Job Title: Director Engineering

Location: Gosselies, Belgium

Position Summary

The Director Engineering will be responsible for providing leadership of the Engineering & Maintenance Operations, Capital Projects, the site Master Plan and 5-year Capex Plan, Continuous Improvement, Facilities and Compliance with all relevant authorities. Strong contributor to all HSE regulatory requirements and internal HSE policies.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the position reports directly to the VP Operations of the CGT Campus in Gosselies and ensures the function for the Cell Therapy and Plasmid DNA activities.

Represents the site on Global Engineering forums and collaborates on implemented corporate engineering initiatives as required.

The Role

• Ensuring the full compliance to OSHA, National and Corporate HSE and cGMP regulations always and working in concert with a cross functional team to ensure that production operations, Technology and Engineering projects meet the required standards of the internal and external customers.
• Organizing, managing, developing and implementing project plans, designs, assembly of equipment, processes, and systems to ensure timely project completion, in compliance with regulatory agency requirements, internal company standards and current industry practices.
• Recruit top talent with every hiring opportunity and motivate/develop members of the department to be key leaders within the organization. Build and sustain employee engagement by creating a culture of efficient execution and an environment in which individuals and team can excel and continuously improve.
• Actively influence and participate in the site leadership team and establish effective cross-functional leadership relationships and presence.
• Develop and regularly update the strategic capital improvement plan including site master plan & maximize the success rate for production operations by instituting programs to minimize mechanical failure and enhance equipment and systems performance.
• Support the site’s ability to win new business with urgent and accurate capital project scope definition and cost estimates to support strategic partnerships with our customer’s proprietary technologies.
• Maintain the different facilities in an appropriate and compliant manner: Utilities, Maintenance, Security, Automation etc. This includes management of all the space at the facilities and assignment of offices. Developing and maintaining a Validated State for all GMP-relevant equipment and systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large capital projects on tight timing and resources & directly be responsibility for capital projects, cost control, project schedules, and direct/indirect expenses.
  

The Candidate

• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Technical subject. An advanced degree (MS or MBA) preferred with a minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering management and 15 total years in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical/FDA is preferred).
• Active Professional membership in ISPE, AIChE, ASQ or similar organizations is preferred.
• Broad and deep operational or engineering experience in pharma industry in a bioprocessing environment.
• Track record of delivering operational improvement across engineering / manufacturing operations
• Knowledge of FDA / MHRA / EMEA standards and audits with outstanding leadership skills
• Full understanding of pharmaceutical supply chain & experience in working according to regulatory standards: FDA, Good Engineering Practice (GEP), Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Good Documentation Procedures (GDP)
