Division:

The Corporate Finance department is part of the Group Finance division. The department provides financial advice to the Board, Senior Management and other group divisions on specific matters, including capital, funding, financial performance or group structure, investments in strategic initiatives and much more. The department also maintains tight relationships with external stakeholders such as rating agencies, group regulators and external auditors. Its activities cover a large part of the group activities (governance, business, risk, IT, strategy, etc.).

Role & responsibilities:

Located in Brussels, Belgium, as Investment Analyst, you will have a role that is twofold:

  • You will advise on M&A projects for the Group (estimated at 50-75% of your work schedule, depending on pipeline). As part of a dedicated project team, you will provide financial advice in the preparation of the business case, company/project valuation, and assist in deal structuring phase (including funding) as well as during the decision making process. Finally, you will provide financial assistance throughout the implementation phase. Your responsibilities will consist of assisting in the investment and management of the corporate VC programme of Euroclear by providing analysis and execution support:
    • Analyse investment ideas. Review historical earnings, balance sheet, current performance, business plan of potential target. Perform due diligence. Communicate analysis results, highlighting key findings / risks / red flags.
    • Analyse data and build financial models, in particular for valuation, investment return, sensitivity analysis and stress testing; ensure model documentation and data lineage
    • Provide support for negotiating, structuring, documenting, closing, and monitoring investments.
    • Support portfolio companies post-close on various value creation initiatives; aid with the preparation of business plans and financial projections
    • Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams involved in the investment process, with external advisors and with management teams of target firms
    • Support portfolio management activities, including preparation of asset descriptions and reporting materials


  • You will also undertake or support special projects in the organisation covering financial aspects such as valuation, recharges, funding and capital impacts etc. (estimated 25-50%)
    • Prepare ad-hoc analysis and provide input for internal discussions
    • Assist in preparing presentations for external or internal stakeholders


    Required qualifications:

    • You hold an university master degree or equivalent.
    • You have 2+ year experience as buy- or sell-side analyst in Investment Banking, Venture Capital, Equity Research, or Corporate Development; or, 2+ year experience in the M&A practice at a global consultancy firm.
    • You exhibit analytical depth and rigour, as demonstrated by prior work experience (financial modeling, consulting, data analysis, strategy) and/or by education (for example, in engineering, math, science, finance).
    • You are able to work in a team as well as independently and take ownership and leadership for actions, build bonds to establish, maintain and develop good business relationships with people in- and outside the division.
    • You are able to pass complex messages and to identify critical factors in the decision making process.
    • You can demonstrate strong professional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, and have a very good level of English.
    • You seek for ways to continuously improve what you do and are keen to learn and expand your areas of expertise.
    • You are flexible and able to work on different projects at the same time, with workload varying and difficult to predict.
    • You are stress resistant and able to meet deadlines.
    • You have a good command of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • You are flexible to travel when required.
