Smappee is seeking a skilled and motivated Java Software Engineer to join our R&D department. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions. Due to the ever-changing environment characterized by the introduction of new products, updated product versions, and frequent fluctuations in data, there is a significant emphasis on the creation of innovative features. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement these new features, enhance existing functionalities, and ensure the stability and performance of our software applications.

Responsibilities:
Design and develop scalable and high-quality software solutions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new features
Build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
Participate in refinement meetings and code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to best practices
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Smappee products and its functionalities
Collaborate closely with the complete R&D department (product owners, app- and frontend developers, firmware engineers, software testers, etc.) to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
At least five years of background as a backend software engineer
Proficiency in Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate)
Experience with communication protocols such as Kafka and MQTT
Knowledge of MySQL database systems
Prior experience in Agile software development methodologies
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/delivery practices
Experience with distributed systems and/or working in an AWS environment is a plus
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
