The function

Business controlling at Barco means teaming up with the finance business partners and worldwide local finance teams to bring insights to the corporate leadership team, CFO and CEO’s to drive results towards external and internal financial targets.

The finance department has a strong reputation inside and outside Barco. As several colleagues have taken up internal new challenges and expanded their current scope of work, the VP corporate finance and group controller are looking for a Junior Business Controller to become part of the finance business control team in Kortrijk, Belgium.

Do you have a first experience in audit or controlling and a can-do attitude than you might be the colleague we are looking for!

Key Responsibilities

  • Main responsibility will be maintaining the standard costing system for our different operations.
  • This includes inventory accounting, analyzing product data, assuring it is recorded accurately and updated on a timely basis.
  • You will play a key role during month and quarter end close processes
  • You will work closely together with the operations controller as major part of your tasks are in this domain
  • Costing of new products in conjunction with R&D, Product Management and Operations is a critical responsibility.
  • Important in the role is to challenge the operational inputs to optimize costing and productivity and launching initiatives for process and efficiency improvements in costing.
  • Assist the business and finance business partners via (ad hoc) analyses.
  • Financial analysis of indirect and direct costs
  • Active participation in the yearly budgeting process
  • You show interest in the processes and the business reality behind the numbers and love to spar with different stakeholders

Your profile

  • Masters degree in Economics, finance or related major
  • 3-5 years of experience in external audit or controlling
  • Analytical mindset
  • Experience/knowledge of product costing is a plus
  • Systems and process savvy, good excel knowledge is a must; ERP/SAP knowledge is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work in a global team environment with a lot of cultural and international diversity
  • ‘Can-do’ mentality
  • As part of an international group, fluent English writing and speaking skills are a must
  • A critical mindset with high sense for accurate reporting and respecting corporate deadlines.
