Objective/Purpose of the Department

The principal purpose of the department is to manage and develop an effective road linehaul organization of tours departing from and arriving in the region for which the LPC is responsible. The department ensures that targeted service performance is achieved, ongoing service enhancements are implemented and costs are kept within budget.

The Cost Controller ensures that all transport costs and intermodal costs within the LPC region are correctly registered, reported and analyzed.

Key Activities

Administration
  • Collect linehaul invoices and provide them with a statement of performance, control all linehaul invoices on correctness and correct calculation and prevent double payment.
  • Preparation of the checklist month end close, execute activities as determined in the checklist month and year end close.
  • Coordinate the request of various permits.
  • Keep up with up to date rates of subcontractors and intermodals.
  • Update subcontract agreements.
  • Prepare regular business review meetings with subcontract.
Reporting
  • Produce, develop and maintain reports concerning own subcontractors and ferries.
  • Proactive attitude concerning key performance indicators that apply to TNT/Fedex SRN (Single Road Network).
  • Check on existing procedures.
Communication
  • Internal and external contacts on financial matters.
  • Advice after a thorough consideration, explain and share information with management and employees of the LPC, when needed.
  • Give support and information to the manager and employees of the LPC on financial matters concerning Linehaul.
  • Regular contact with suppliers on financial matters of the LPC concerning Linehaul.
  • Provide and collect information on financial matters outside the own LPC.
Procedures
  • Develop, control, monitor and advise (users) concerning procedures and processes.
  • Organize work in a way that is clear and transparent for all stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all controls are present and are being executed.
  • Obtain approval for deviant and/or additional costs.
  • Facilitate controls.
Control and cost control
  • Analyze differences in cost and service level and compare to the Linehaul masterplan, budgets, price agreements and contracts.
  • Monitor costs that are not budgeted.
  • Weighing all transactions that fall out of the procedures/processes and reviewing them on accuracy, transparency and norms of TNT/Fedex and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the performance of the plausibility checks on the monthly reports.
  • Continuously testing the work activities to meet the demands of clarity.
Knowledge Of

Preferred Experience and Knowledge
  • Excellent command of the English language (verbal and written);
