Overview

As a Java developer you will be working on the backend of our web based Common Data Environment (CDE), Bricsys 24/7. By doing so, you will be part of an international team that aims to develop an intuitive and user-friendly environment for effective collaboration throughout design and construction.

Initiatives and new ideas are important and opportunities for growth present themselves on a regular basis. Given time and personal interest, differentiating into other functions (team lead, business analyst, software architect, devops, ...) is possible.

Headquartered in Ghent Belgium, Bricsys is a global provider of design software. For the last two decades, our focus has been building cost-effective, mission-critical design tools. By taking design workflows to the next level and integrating BIM and Mechanical design capability, we believe that we are the trusted CAD partner. Responsibilities
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate with team members.
  • Collaborate with functional analysts, product designers and frontend teams to build modern web applications with a focus on user experience.
  • Coach and motivate junior backend team members by sharing your passion, expertise and knowledge of the very latest in backend technology.
  • Interpret functional specifications and combine these with the technical architecture.
  • Guarantee the quality of the delivered code by conducting regular code reviews, providing feedback to the Developers and proposing and following up improvements.
  • Ensure the use of the right technologies.
  • Participate in code reviews and other aspects of our development methodology.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of three years of java back-end experience.
  • Good knowledge of Java 8 or higher.
  • Good Knowledge of Hibernate, spring/spring boot.
  • Worked on a cloud platform before.
  • Knowledge of Microservices.
  • Git experience (GitHub).
  • A good understanding of CI/CD.
  • An ability to create clear and structured code (general mentality) – Clean Code.
  • Self-motivated, keen to take initiative and work well as part of a team.
  • Expertise in using/writing RESTful APIs. 
  • Fluent in Dutch & English.
  • Bonus: Docker & Kubernetes experience
