Then it’s you we are looking for to complete our team in the Medical Unit as a Process Research and Development Engineer.

Qualifications & Experience


Responsibilities

In your new role, you will investigate the technical feasibility of new 3D printing opportunities in the medical field using bioresorbable and metal materials. Starting from a new 3D printing technology, a new material or a new medical device you will gather input from relevant stakeholders, propose potential solutions, define experiments and critically evaluate your results. You will be responsible for the setup of the 3D printing experiments as well as the execution and follow-up of mechanical testing.

As a Process Research and Development engineer you will become a process expert with a strong relation with the product development team and the operational process engineering team. This will enable you to fully understand the product requirements and the operational reality in order to ensure smooth roll-out from a feasible concept into a fully validated medical device.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Definition of the scope, input parameters and output requirements in collaboration with the process engineering team and product development team.
  • Determination and characterization of the critical process and material parameters
  • Translation of mechanical and geometrical requirements into relevant test specimens and experiments
  • Set-up, execution, and critical analysis of experiments
  • Internal and external reporting of results
  • Knowledge transfer inside and outside of the Process R&D team
  • Opportunity spotting for new 3D printing technologies and materials for medical devices

Requirements

  • You have a Master degree in Science or Engineering (Material, Mechanical, Industrial)
  • You have an interest in 3D printing and medical applications and want to become an expert
  • You are highly motivated and have a hands-on attitude
  • Experience with CAD tools is an asset
  • You have excellent problem solving skills with eye for detail
  • You are analytical, social and assertive;
  • You can think outside the box and want to boost innovation
  • You are fluent in English
  • You are a teamplayer
