Sustainability is positioned in the center of Arcadis’ strategy. Therefore, it is no surprise that our sustainability services are experiencing strong growth! Product sustainability, CO2 and water footprints, ESG assessments, circular business models, industrial symbiosis... there are many interesting challenges with our ambitious clients in Belgium and internationally.

To further develop and run these projects, we are looking for a passionate consultant: a generalist in sustainability with a broad interest and a technical background in product impact assessments.

Have you earned your spurs in carrying out life cycle assessments (LCAs)? Are you familiar and experienced with Safe and Sustainable by Design framework? Join our enthusiastic team working on exciting and innovative projects.

Your tasks

As a consultant, you are taking on different roles or responsibilities, supporting in a set of projects:

  • Conduct product LCA’s for existing products, or products under development with our tools (SimaPro, Ecochain), including scope definition, data gathering, data analysis and reporting.
  • Perform regulatory tracking related to sustainability topics and evaluate the business impact of changing regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement SSbD assessment approach for clients.
  • Develop Product Environmental Footprinting strategy with companies or sector associations, including defining KPI’s & milestones, stakeholders’ engagement.
  • Identify and assess more sustainable alternatives.
  • Develop circular economy approach at product level.

Depending on your interests and the needs of our clients, other sustainability topics may also arise. You stay on top of trends and developments in the sustainability sector to contribute to the innovation of our services. You support the development of our services. You will be guided by senior consultants with experience in different topics and supported by other (junior) consultants. If interested, you can be actively involved in the sales process.

Does your profile match?

  • Master’s degree with an analytical approach (Bio-engineer, chemical engineer, civil engineer, commercial sciences, economics, ...). An additional master in Sustainability or environmental sciences is an important asset.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with LCA software tools (SimaPro, Gabi, Ecochain, OpenLCA or MakerSite) and carbon accounting/footprint (based on GHG Protocol) is an absolute must.
  • Experience with Safe and Sustainable by Design assessments is a plus.
  • You are passionate about the topic, you are able to handle complexity, you have a flexible mindset, you value collaboration, and you have excellent communication skills in English and one other EU language.
