Your Work Context

Jan De Nul has recently taken the Belgian family business Aircoplus under its wing. The expert in heating, cooling, ventilation, and plumbing complements Jan De Nul’s numerous construction projects. Both partners have been successfully collaborating since 2005 on various projects, including the ASZ hospital in Aalst, the ORSI medical training center in Wetteren, and the Leietop residential project in Deinze.

Your Role

Start your day with a fresh perspective on the challenges ahead. You arrive early on site and begin with a tour to check the progress and quality of the construction work. You verify whether everything is proceeding according to plan and whether execution meets quality and safety requirements.

Back at your desk in the site office, you handle administrative tasks and follow up on plans and technical data sheets, checking whether everything has been correctly drafted and making adjustments where needed.

In the afternoon, you meet with a subcontractor on site and consult with the rest of the project team to ensure that all agreements are being followed and that any issues are quickly addressed. You also prepare the next phases of the project, ensuring a smooth continuation of the work.

As a Project Engineer for Building Services (Special Techniques):

  • You are responsible for the design and development of technical building systems such as HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, control systems, power supply for elevators, smoke and heat extraction, and fire protection. You can create technical drawings yourself and interpret or adapt existing ones.
  • You coordinate the technical aspects of our construction projects. To ensure smooth progress, you work closely with architects, clients, subcontractors, and the project team. You are the link between all these stakeholders and the client.
  • You provide technical support and solve issues that arise during the project execution.
  • You ensure that the technical systems are installed in compliance with applicable standards and regulations. You guarantee the quality of the work.
  • You monitor the technical budget and keep a close eye on costs. You help prepare cost estimates, manage expenses, and ensure that the work is carried out efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • You regularly consult with other stakeholders. You report and manage the technical documentation related to building systems.
  • You actively look for innovative technologies, materials, or processes to improve project execution.

What do you need?A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

Some years of experience? That’s a plus. But even if you’ve just graduated and are eager to dive in, you’re more than welcome. Through an extensive training program and support from your colleagues, you’ll quickly learn the ropes on the job.

Strong communication skills, you’re able to connect with people at all levels.

Technical insight is essential. You can read and adapt plans and understand what’s needed to keep a construction project running smoothly.

You thrive on variety. You love that no two days are the same, and you enjoy the unexpected challenges that each day can bring.

You’re a team player but also able to work independently and take initiative.

In short: we’re looking for a technical mind, a problem-solver, and a strong planner who wants to take the lead on some of the most impressive construction sites in the country.
