McDonald’s is the largest restaurant chain in the world and also one of the the most people-oriented enterprises around the globe. We are constantly looking for ways to reinvent ourselves in order to serve our customers better, every single day.

Rooted in our Belgian society for more than 40 years, we feel particularly committed to our environment and partners. There are currently 98 McDonald’s restaurants in Belgium, run by 24 independent entrepreneurs (Franchisees).
Because our business is growing fast-paced, we are looking for talented people to reinforce our head offices that provide support to all restaurants.

About the job
You will be responsible for optimizing the Real Estate portfolio. This means brand new site development, relocations and rebuilding of existing restaurants.
Within the Development department of McDonald’s Belgium, you will report to the Head of Development.

Key responsibilities will include:

Planning and Development Plan Execution
  • Active searches for new potential sites;
  • Creation, management, and execution of Development Plan;
  • Contract negotiations of Real Estate agreements;
  • Assembly and presentation of site packages;
  • Working together with Construction to obtain all required approvals;
  • Optimization of site development processes;
  • Ensuring quality control standards for Real Estate transactions (cost, time, location, economics, market needs, and deal quality, etc.).
  • Monitoring of Real Estate transactions by coordinating the efforts of others (brokers, attorneys, consultants, government agencies, etc.).
Real estate assets
  • Management of Real Estate assets to maximize returns (reacquisitions, value of leases, development projects, condemnations, and excess property, etc.);
  • Monitoring rent payments and yearly rent indexations together with our finance department;

Relationship management
 Development of a strong network with brokers and external consultants;
 Establishing and maintaining working relationships with McDonald’s Owner/Operators;
 Cultivation and promotion of working relationships with other McDonald’s departments, alliance partners and other external organizations.

About you now
To be able to thrive in this role, we believe you need to possess:
  • At least 3-5 years’ expertise of the retail real estate market;
  • The art of being a wizard in project management (rigor, efficient retro planning, tasks prioritizing, time management, organizational skills) with a great sense of humor;
  • Excellent negotiation and assertive communication skills with commercial insight;
  • An unstoppable motivation and dedication to the brand and our partners;
  • A sociable and pragmatic personality with strong team player skills;
  • A healthy gut feeling;
  • The quality to thrive in stressful and deadline driven situations;
  • Flexibility and the ability to work autonomously;
  • Fluency in Dutch with good knowledge of French & English;
