We are transferring software applications from the New York branch towards Belgian headquarters on a technical and applicative level. The applications vary in purpose, going from regulatory reporting, to processing payments to internal management. All of the applications reside on an open systems or cloud environment, and are mostly constructed by a third party, but can have in-house made scripting supporting them.

We are looking for a senior profile, with lots of experience in the open systems world. Not only in supporting third-party applications, optimizing or writing scripting in Python, Perl or other languages, but also someone who can find their way in the surrounding tooling, like basic database instructions, file transfer, scheduling, monitoring

We are sourcing a mature, independently working team-player, who can provide us with technical support and guidance. Working with KBC New York branch requires of course excellent English language skills and the willing to work in the later hours of a standard Belgian business working day.

The colleague who would join our team, can choose the standard head-office: Gent, Leuven or Brussels (combined with telework), but with the knowledge that regular on-site attendance in Brussels will be required. We are also hoping to welcome someone who is not afraid to take on 24/7 support or the occasional weekend installation of an application.

Since this is quite a big project, we want to make sure that whoever jumps onboard of our SAFe train is someone who is willing to travel with us for a while, to complete this project together with the team and train our colleagues. You will be incorporated in a dynamic team, working on several other projects for our international branches and we offer you a lead position within the role of a senior systems/sofware engineer in the NY project.

We are thus not looking for a DBA Admin, or someone who can setup an entire Windows system, has profound MQ or Telecom knowledge We are looking for a candidate who knows his/her way around applications, scripting, but also wants to understand the functional side of the story. We need someone who can go E2E, and therefore some technical knowledge is needed. But purely system engineer profiles will not be a match for this vacancy.

Responsibilites
  • Technical lead in scripting, optimizing and maintaining existing applications that are being transferred from NY branch to HQ Belgium; training of colleagues in the team.
  • You will be in the lead to tackle this migration and will need to coach/train your colleagues. You must thus be able to make your own task list of things to be done to reach our common goal.
Needed Qualifications
  • OS knowledge & experience: general know-how (not a system admin!)
  • Perl, Python, Shell scripting (absolute must!) ...
  • Experience with basic database skills (not a DBA), file transfer, monitoring, scheduling...
  • Hands-on and practical thinker, fast learner and independent worker
  • Experience with taking in new applications, understanding them, maintaining them
