BDO is a global audit, tax and advisory organisation present in 167 countries around the world and headquartered in Brussels. For our Global IT team, we are looking for a Solution Architect. Reporting to the Lead Solution Architect, this role supports the Global IT team that has a wide range of programmes and solutions.

Role overview

The Solution Architect’s responsibilities include designing new solutions, redesigning existing solutions and vetting solutions proposed by integration partners while adhering to the Global IT architecture standards.

The Solution Architect is also responsible for maintaining, creating and updating the architecture artefacts and documentation, in functional, non-functional and technical areas per solution as well as providing input into overarching architecture documentation.

Key to this role will be the ability to manage all the architectural guidance in projects and the ability to drive the architectural governance of projects to the desired outcome that is in line with the longer-term architecture vision and standards in BDO Global IT.

• Architect and design solutions in a cloud environment.
• Guide the development teams around architectural topics.
• Adhere and contribute to BDO Secure Development policies and play a proactive role in making sure application are secure by design.
• Adhere to BDO Change Management procedures.
• Adhere and contribute to the BDO Architecture standards and guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with the BDO Lead Solution Architect, Product Manager, Architecture & Infrastructure Manager, Program Manager BDO Global IT and other key stakeholders.
• Support Level 3 investigations.
• Provide leadership to other team members working in an Agile environment.

1. Degree in computer science, information technology or related field preferred.

2. Expert skill level with 2 to 5 years’ experience with the following technologies:

• C#, .NET Core
• Azure PaaS Data and Web Services
• Object Oriented Analysis and Design
• CI/CD and source control
• Office 365

3. Experience designing applications in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.

4. Experience with Agile Project Management and methodologies is a strong plus.

5. Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle.

6. Able to exercise independent judgement and take action on it.

7. Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

8. Efficient communication skills.

9. Strong interpersonal and team skills.

10. Highly self-motivated and a self-starter.

11. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

The Solution Architect needs to have strong working relationships with:

• Global IT Project Management Office
• IT Operations
• BDO International IT Team
• Contractors and Suppliers
• Key Vendors
