Presentation of the John Cockerill Group

John Cockerill aim to be a leader in the decarbonization sector and in green economy, we are present on all continents and sell on a worldwide basis.
The development of the green economy, with its important challenges and opportunities, requires a specific organization. For this purpose, all our renewable energy activities are currently being re-grouped under “John Cockerill Renewable”, specifically thermal solar, hydrogen and Integrated Renewable Solutions.
In a context where more and more private and public actors are looking to reduce their carbon footprint, while also managing their energy costs, John Cockerill Renewable ambitions to design and offer turnkey Integrated Renewable Solutions (“IRS”), combining a range of technologies (storage, PV, wind, cogen, energy recovery, H2, EV+H2 charging hubs, etc.) to deliver the most efficient solutions from economic and environmental standpoint.

Presentation of the sector
John Cockerill Energy designs, supplies, installs and upgrades steam generators for combined cycle (gas-steam or integrated solar), thermo-solar, cogeneration and industrial power plants. John Cockerill steam generators are a key element in the performance of these power plants.

Product presentation
We develop a software product to help our customers make their integrated renewable installation more profitable. The product has (i) to provide a user-friendly software for the management of the renewable energy installation and (ii) to optimize energy production, storage and consumption. The product can handle energy data acquisition and storage, prediction and optimization algorithms, and dashboarding interfaces. We offer a modular solution that can be adapted to the needs and requirements of our customers.
Currently, we are working on packaging and getting the product to the market, and to do so, fixing a pricing model is one of the most important components to work on.

Description of the internship
  • Work on the pricing model of our software product in an agile environment
  • In relation to the product owner, you will work closely with the product team to understand the vision and strategy of the product and the technological choices made to develop it
  • You will work on the marketing of the product, but more importantly on the pricing model. You will need to take into account the nature of our business and commercial realities (product costs and value, competitor pricing, product growth strategy,...)
  • Propose a methodology for updating the model
  • Work on a pricing model adapted to the IRS activity
  • Study the pricing model of similar products in the market

Profile required
  • Currently enrolled in a in a Master’s degree (engineering schools, business schools, universities)
  • Technical/engineering profile with a strong knowledge of business and marketing, or a business profile with a strong knowledge of technology and digitalisation
  • Analytical, accurate and curious
  • Resourceful, innovative
  • Team player is an asset
  • Comfortable breaking down complex issues into smaller, more manageable ones and communicating them
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to move easily from overview to detail and back again (zoom in/zoom out)
  • Passion for technical products and software
  • Academic or internship experience in the field of digital products and in defining their strategy and/or business model is required
  • Internship experience in industry or energy is a plus
  • Speaking French and/or English
