The Global Corporate Communications team at BlackRock is responsible for internal and external communications efforts that advance BlackRock’s purpose of helping more and more people experience financial well-being. We work to develop compelling communications programs that enhance the firm’s culture, drive growth, strengthen our reputation and build our brand.

Your role and impact

Based in Brussels, you will help us tell our story in Europe, managing communications initiatives that intersect public policy, communications, marketing, philanthropy and social-responsibility through a multi-channel approach, including earned media, social media, owned digital properties, as well as events management.

The role will involve having an established and thorough understanding of BlackRock’s mission, products, and capabilities, as well as the EU policy agenda.

The candidate will be a member of the EMEA Corporate Communications team and work in close partnership with BlackRock’s regional public policy and marketing teams.

Your responsibilities

• Identify and create content relevant to BlackRock’s Brussels-based, EU-focused audience, including a wide range of thought leadership materials, public policy viewpoints, stewardship reports and case studies.
• Drive stakeholder-centric communications strategies to deliver BlackRock content through earned and owned media as well as via direct engagements.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key media across channels (print, broadcast and digital/social).
• Handle media inquiries and drive coverage to position BlackRock via the relevant spokespeople ensuring the firm’s voice is strategically and appropriately presented
• Support the planning and implementation of key events that help shape BlackRock’s reputation with our target audience spanning Marketing, Communications and/or Public Policy.
• Work with BlackRock’s central and local digital teams to optimize web experience for users accessing EU-focused content
• Develop a deep knowledge of BlackRock’s mission, services and products, while establishing strong internal relationships with key stakeholders
• Manage the day-to-day activity of BlackRock’s EU communications agency

• Responsible for media monitoring and market sensing on key industry and geo-political developments

• Contribute to the regular reporting on the effectiveness of the communications strategy, developing a solid understanding of the available measurement and metrics

You have …

• A thorough understanding of the European policy landscape as well as the asset management industry, investment products and strategies, capital markets and issues facing institutional and individual investors
• 8 to 10 years of experience in a corporate communication and/or public affairs and/or marketing function, either in house or agency
• A sound understanding of the evolving digital communications landscape, with knowledge and experience of creating owned and earned media campaigns
• An energetic team player attitude and a driven self-starter mindset, as well as excellent work ethic
• The ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with resilience and intellectual flexibility
• Excellent verbal communication skills and exceptional writing ability
• Analytical thinking, the ability to integrate input from multiple stakeholders while working to deadlines.
• The ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including our executives, journalists, colleagues

Fluent English is a requirement and additional European languages, such as French, Dutch, German, Spanish or Italian, are desirable
