Your challenge

We’re currently seeking a VP of Engineering to help us lead and expand our Engineering team. A great candidate for this role is a strong people manager who is passionate about designing and scaling a successful engineering organization that meets the challenging needs of TrendMiner, a global leading industrial analytics platform. Owning all aspects of engineering, this person will create an environment where it is safe to fail, and where engineers are supported, cared about, and is invested in their growth. The ideal candidate will be an empathetic communicator and an excellent cross-functional collaborator and a hands-on engineering leader that has experience across the technical stack, are pragmatic in their approach to software development, and are capable of making fast, practical, and effective technology decisions.

What you will do

• Provide Strategic and Operational Leadership: You’ll work closely with our senior leadership team to translate our company vision and strategy into a strategy and vision for the Engineering function. You adapt to and handle multiple competing priorities, you’ll track and manage key KPIs to objectively assess engineering’s progress against our roadmap, pivoting as needed, and sharing learnings along the way.
• Lead and grow our Engineering organization: You’ll expand, uplevel, hire and manage diverse talent, ensuring we have the key roles needed to execute our roadmap. You’ll help us recruit and retain top talent to help us scale our teams. You’ll do all this by being a thought leader who is able to earn respect and trust and help grow even our most senior engineers. You understand what agility means (and what it does not mean) and can help people and teams figure out what that means for them to deliver software efficiently, with a continuous improvement mindset, and find happiness in their daily operations.
• Ensure we ship at high velocity and with high quality: You’ll build systems and processes that enable our engineers to consistently deliver multiple concurrent projects, on time, with high quality and within a budget.
• You’ll partner closely with our Lead Architect to employ industry best practices to drive innovation, address technical debt, advance system architecture and improve our processes while still meeting our overall product and business objectives.
• Manage a team of ~50 software engineers and managers working in Java, Angular, Kubernetes, Python and Golang.
• Partner with Product leadership to implement continuous improvement, deployment and testing as part of the product delivery lifecycle.
• Establish, communicate, and implement engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.

What you bring along

• Minimum 5 years leadership experience within a software development environment
• You come from a technical background. We want you to demonstrate affinity and real passion for software development
• People skills come natural to you, and you are a motivated team player
• Effective communication skills. This means talking, writing, and listening (not necessarily in that order)
• Have expertise with modern, large-scale distributed systems using cloud native architectures
• You think in terms of solutions, never in terms of problems.
• You are agile, proactive, flexible and you have a hands-on personality
• Fluent in English
