DHL Express is looking for a Finance Controller for its office in Diegem, Belgium. The purpose of the role: Accurate accounting and controlling of multiple Head Office cost functions in line with reporting in accordance with Accounting principles and all relevant corporate policies.

• Perform month-end closing activities within the agreed schedule
• Ensure accuracy and that results are understood by the regional and global finance
• Ensure that all financial data is in compliance with corporate accounting policies and IFRS
• Report on monthly results for the entities controlled, to the functional heads
• Provide analysis of month-end results and management cost reports. Present results to the senior managers responsible for each function
• Influence functional heads and cost center owners to maximize cost efficiency
• Understanding and ability to apply rules on taxation of employee events, gifts and other non-payroll benefits. This responsibility is across multiple countries
• Manage the process to ensure taxable non-payroll benefits are captured
• Support tax submissions and investigations
• Participate in system/process improvement and standardization initiatives. Participate in review and improvement in existing processes
• Within the company control framework (CRISP), take ownership of testing of some controls
• Investigation of queries and abnormalities
• Maintain the control cost center structure
• Preparation of cost allocations. Approval of incoming cost transfers (MAAs) from other entities
• Support preparation/processing of accruals and provisions
• Ensure positive relationship with the business partners. Be engaging

• University level in Accounting/Controlling or equivalent by experience
• Good knowledge of IFRS principles and Tax Management
• Knowledge of Controlling principles
• PC-Skills: Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Expert Microsoft Office Excel. SAP
• Language skills: Good knowledge of English and German, other European languages are considered an asset
• Highly numerate and strong analytical skills
• Independent thinker. Inquisitive
• Have great attention to detail
• Ability to work with short deadlines and on multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to be optimistic and offer solutions
• Help to ensure a positive spirit and happy team
• Able to work with independently and ask for support whenever appropriate
