About The Job

We are looking for a result driven Data Scientist Lead to inspire, coach and steer a team of 15+ highly skilled professionals in the domains of Data Science. It is your mission to explore and design new ways of working, grow your team and optimize process where required that are innovative, human-centric and highly appealing. You work in an agile operating model, and as Chapter lead your key role is to improve the overall quality of our Data Science competency. You do this by developing your team’s competencies, by defining the Data Science vision and standards, by providing right tools and platforms and by attracting new talent. A proven track record building teams of data scientist, and a highly contagious vision on how the future of data science further evolves.

Your Responsibilities

• You define Telenet’s Data Scientist vision and ambition, in line with the overall business strategy and the growing expectations of our customers. You gather your team and all necessary stakeholders behind this vision and drive its implementation.
• You develop the Data Science practice. You define data science best practices, standards and guidelines, process and frameworks and ensure that they are implemented within the data asset lifecycle to maximize business impact and customer value.
• You attract and develop the necessary talent to deliver on your mission. You elevate your team’s output through on-the-job coaching and mentoring, competency development, t-shaping, training initiatives, etc. You have a strong vision on the long-term talent roadmap for the Data Science competency.
• You strive for continuous improvement of our Data Assets, with an innovative, data-driven and customer-centric mindset.
• You’re able to discuss and defend your vision with stakeholders. You’re a master in translating insights and knowledge into clear plans and objectives towards your chapter. You know how to build a business case that balances out the customer needs & the company financial impacts.
• You create impact through your expertise and strong communication skills.
• You monitor and analyze the performance of our predictive models and assets and based on that, formulate recommendations for adjustments in terms of adaptations on features, processes, etc.
• You permanently match business demand with available resources through quarterly resource allocation and long-term strategic resource planning. You manage the relations with business stakeholders (Product owners, Tribe leads, Chapter leads, etc.) to understand the business needs and maximize the business value that we generate through great Product management.
• You identify new trends and innovations in your expertise domain and create opportunities to tap into them.
• You collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Architects and other data functions within Telnet in order to handle complex business and technical challenges and optimize processes like Model Industrialization.
• You define high level Data Science budget for the forecast items/FTEs, consistent reviews with finance controllers and D&I domain management of CAPEX and OPEX budget allocation vs consumption.
  

This Is You

• You have a master’s degree in applied economic science / business economics / engineering / MBA or equivalent due to experience, and a passion for marketing.
• You’re a seasoned Data Scientist professional, with a proven track record of leading divers teams in a matrix organization.
• You are strong in conceptual thinking, scenario building, strategic decision making and value & benefit thinking.
• You’re a servant leader, having led teams of highly skilled professionals. You understand how to build, inspire and lead a team. If you’ve done this in an agile working environment, that’s certainly a plus.
• You’re a people person. You love to work with individuals and make them grow in their professional life. You know how to make your team members rise above themselves.
• You’re not going for a status quo. You are ambitious and eager to learn. You use data & insights to continually improve our value propositions and are not afraid to try things out.
• You take ownership of your projects, you set the right priorities and you have a catchy drive to mobilize stakeholders to get things done. You have impact through strong communication and storytelling skills.  
• You combine strong analytical skills with a creative and positive mind
• Languages: Native NL or FR speaker, with a solid knowledge of ENG, both spoken and written
