Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of voltage electrical distribution systems to include AC/DC systems and SCADA tools
  • Experience in the design-build environment for facilities (e.g., data centers, industrial, etc.)
  • Experience in construction management

Preferred qualifications:
  • Professional engineering license or equivalent
  • Experience in estimating, electrical design, operation and commissioning of substations, switchgear, ATP/ATS, and emergency power systems and their control systems, power monitoring, and electrical protection
  • Knowledge of mission critical facility electrical/mechanical infrastructure systems

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

Data Center Services Engineering is a technical engineering team with a primary focus on providing a technical understanding of Google’s data center design to the field execution and operations teams in support of their initiatives. In this role, you will support other teams in the development and evaluation of conceptual design.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the project specific design review process, including conceptualizing ways to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) while maintaining Google standards.
  • Coordinate with engineers and prepare construction documents based on the conceptual design standards developed internally.
  • Work with the General Contractor (GC) and Trades to develop an understanding of the design intent and on-time development of coordinated design details and delegated design elements in alignment with Google standards.
  • Develop an understanding of trade contractors project delivery strategy, planning, zoning, and work sequences to help optimize and align to program level standards.
  • Support request for Information (RFI), submittal, and change management processes in coordination with engineers.
