Position Summary

The OT Automation Specialist (M/F/X) is a technical-strategic, high-impact role, powering the key element of the Automation (Execution Systems - ES) group - Daily Operations. The role is based in and supports J&J’s key Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients platform in Geel, which is the strategic Launch Site for New Product Introduction and includes both Commercial and Clinical Supply Chain plants.

As a successful candidate, you bring Domain Specialist expertise in Automation Networks, Infrastructure and Process Analytical Tools; you lead the support of these sophisticated automation architectures, which drive ten-digit manufacturing values.

Your Core Duties & Responsibilities

• Act as Technical System Owner (TSO) and Geel Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a collection of systems managed by our Automation group:
• Automation Network and Infrastructure / ISA95 L2.5 (Level 2 Shared Services): act and develop oneself as Site and Cluster SME for L2.5, to manage and maintain the automation network infrastructure - interfaces and virtualization support and standards application between ISA L2 (PCS/DCS) and L3 (MES, Historians / OSI PI and Centralized Janssen Data Architecture;
• OT Cyber Security oversight and coordination of external parties for implementations (PRA - Privileged Remote Access, USB Hardening, network and system security and monitoring);
• Process Analytical Tools (PAT): network and associated infrastructure maintenance and support, respectively Data flow support via L2 and L2.5 (where applicable).
• Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs/control consoles): lead, as Geel SPOC and coordinator for external staff, the implementation of Cluster HMI standards (incl. thin client strategies), for both Commercial and Clinical plants, as well as associated Chemical Warehouses.
• Lead systems maintenance, respectively build and secure dedicated expertise, while optimally coordinating and executing key support for update, incident and change management.
• Support Automation Project Engineers in various projects by means of a strong connection to the operational environment, while ensuring proper handover preparations (resources, practices, processes, documentation etc.) into post-project operation.
• Enhance existing L2SS and PAT systems from a safety, quality and economic/business-case point of view, by synchronizing global standards and locally identified improvement opportunities.
• Lead and/or support innovation initiatives related to or using L2SS and PAT technologies.
• Ensure compliance with applicable prevention, quality and documentation good practices and procedures.
  
  

Qualifications

You bring the following expertise to our team:

• You have a technical degree in industrial automation or information technology, and at least 4 years of practical experience.
• Deploy experience in IT infrastructure for manufacturing automation systems (PAT Infrastructure and Data Integrity, automation networks infrastructure (incl. HMI’s), virtualized site systems, OT Cybersecurity).
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of quality and compliance processes.
• Welcome advantages, while not mandatory - contribute:
• Knowledge about process control systems, production processes and process equipment, control techniques etc.;
• Basic knowledge of risk analysis and / or project management.
• Demonstrate proficiency in both spoken and written English, while Dutch represents an advantage.

• Locally: regular contact with other support departments (Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability etc.) and project teams to align on the current optimization opportunities and projects. Regular contact with the internal customer (operations/production) on service level expectations and quality of delivery.
• Globally: regular contact with members of global governance and standardization groups for automation systems.
• Externally: regular contact with suppliers, external experts and service providers, on knowledge assurance for the latest technologies and practices, as well as for discussing quotations, order follow-up, delivery of equipment and services.
