Purpose Of The Job

Accountable for realizing PCB layout in such a way that the result is cost efficient, that it meets the requested performance and DfX requirements. Interacts with several disciplines such as hardware, mechanical, EMC and cost engineers. Guarantees that the board can be reliable manufactured in high volumes.

M Ain Accountabilities
  • Design Complexity
  • Perform PCB layout designs, reviewed by R&D or colleagues
  • Perform pre-configured simulations wrt PI & EMC
  • Perform pre-configured Design-For-X
  • Perform autonomous PCB layout designs and reviews
  • Propose stackups
  • Perform cable ID Card
  • Configure simulation tools, EMC tool & Design-for-X
  • Process & Innovation
  • Knowledgeable of current process & implement guidelines into the designs
  • Propose improvements to the current process
  • Suggest guideline adaptations
  • Provide feedback (errors, improvements, …) on the R&D schematics
  • Suggest cost optimization to R&D (board specific)
  • Define & implement improvements / automation of the current process
  • Find work-around in case of tool issues & inform stakeholders
  • Training & Communication skills
  • Update design status towards R&D
  • Interacts with the PCB team members
  • Inform stakeholders and PCB team on issues
  • Disseminate your knowledge to the R&D and PCB team
  • Planning
  • Execute the planning & report the results
  • Propose planning updates in case of conflicts
  • Optimize the effort calculation tool to increase planning accuracy

Required Education, Competencies And Experience

Education
  • Master or Bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering or equal by experience

Experience
  • At least 5 to 10 year experience in PCB layout design or equal by experience

  • Good knowledge on performance and DfX requirements (standard layout)
  • Good knowledge of Electronics and components
  • Collaborate in an international team
  • Resolve & discuss DfM requirements with suppliers
  • Good knowledge on Microprocessors, FPGAs and High-speed Memory devices, Rambus, DDRx and TMDS interfaces layout practices (complex layout)
  • Able to interpret Power Integrity constraints (complex layout)
  • Works autonomously
  • Good knowledge on EMI/RFI and ESD best practices (complex layout)
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills

System
  • PCB Tool & PI / SI simulators, EMC tool
  • Cabling tool
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access: intermediate level
  • DfX tools

Language
  • English; local native language(s)
