About The Project

Join one of the largest and most ambitious decarbonization projects in Europe, aiming to revolutionize steelmaking through green technologies. The multi-year program involves building and adapting major infrastructure: steel shops, utilities, material handling systems, and more.

Your role

Joining an ambitious and dynamic project, you will be part of the GP project team in Ghent as a Project manager for the Material handling Systems. Your experience will be key in supporting the team in handling the delivery on time and within budget of this major project.

For the new EAF Steelmaking process, several new material handling systems need to be implemented. E.g. systems to bring lime, Dolo lime, ferro-alloys, cold direct reduced iron (CDRI), hot briquetted iron (HBI), …

These systems consist of conveyor system, weighing systems, dosing systems and many other parts.

Key tasks

  • Responsible for the project management of the complete material handling scope (>50M EUR)
  • You collaborate closely with EPCM and permitting partners (reviewing schedules for deliverables, formulating civil scopes, enforcing D&E standardization).
  • You ensure integration and validate brownfield adaptations as applicable.
  • You conduct reviews and approvals for documents, drawings and request for change.
  • Proactively escalate any project governance issues that are creating a barrier to project delivery in a timely manner and make suggestions for how they might be brought back to plan.
  • Drive continuous process improvements through the project lifecycle, by using lessons learnt and identifying opportunities.
  • Analyse improvement areas identified via maturity assessment, evaluate use cases & prioritize and propose actions.
  • You will support and report to the SMP project delivery lead of the GP project
  • You enable periodic internal reviews and coordination with stakeholders to address gaps and follow-through resolution.

Profile Description

  • Technical skills
  • Experience in working with EPCM or EPC companies
  • Expertise in Project Management
  • Goal oriented, results driven, takes initiative, leadership and attention to detail
  • Effective communicator, with ability to deal ability to proactively deal with senior executives and stakeholders, persuading them to meet deadlines
  • Proven people management skills
  • Job experience / other skills
  • +5- or +15-years’ experience as a Project Manager in a similar role (we are looking for medior/senior profiles)
  • Relevant experience in any of these domains is required
