Our partner, active in the thermal sector and world leader, is looking to reinforce its R&D department.

As Project Manager NPI, you will lead larger R&D new product development projects according the internal NPI stage-gated process, typically these projects will take between 2 and 3 years.

You will be part of a young, ambitious, and growing R&D team with the possibility to take a high-level of autonomy and ownership in the organization. In this function, you will report to the R&D Manager.

• As Project Manager NPI, you will lead larger R&D new product development projects according the internal NPI stage-gated process, typically these projects will take between 2 and 3 years.
• During the different phases you will constantly coordinate between all involved stakeholders to guide your project to commercialization. This constantly monitoring the key project KPI regarding budget, quality, timing, and stage deliverables. You systematically report progress to the larger organization.
• Key technologies or knowledge domains associated to your assigned product family are combustion, design for assembly, certification, electronics, electrics, sheet metal, prototyping. In our matrix organization, your R&D project team will consist of experts in the different domains required for the project. Outside the R&D team, you interact with and integrate all different departments into your project. You facilitate the communication between all parties through frequent project meetings.
• You integrate a risk-based approach through the life cycle of your project, anticipating potential issues and systematic validation of all product deliverables. In this approach you have the support of a project quality engineer who leads the systematic methodology and tools application for product safety and quality assurance. And the end of each stage, a strict gate review is prepared to confirm the project is conform expectations.
• Together with the product manager you assure during the project that market/customer feedback is integrated in the development, based on specification-, design reviews and through validation by field tests.
• In the Opportunity stage you will team up with your product management counterpart in the definition and construction of the product file and project plan, containing all product requirements, project budget and product direct cost targets, sales volumes, and timing objectives
• In the Feasibility stage you eliminate the major project and technical risks by proof of concepts and technical studies on performance, new technologies or new processes. During this stage a significant amount of work happens in collaboration with the laboratory for combustion and performance related validations. At the end of this stage, you commit to the product specifications and commercialization date in the form of a project contract
• The Development stage is the execution stage, the product is developed and validated through a sequence of prototypes and test. In parallel, you assure that the process to produce the product is developed in parallel in collaboration with the factory and process team. Also purchasing and supply chain will be key partners in this stage of the project. The development stage ends intensively with product certification and the pre-series in the factory.
• Series production starts after integration and resolution of any shortcomings identified during pre-series
• Before official Project closure and post-project evaluation, the project manager will accompany his product for 6 months after series and follow up on market launch and quality feedback. Any post-launch changes will be managed through the engineering change process (ECR).
• Frequent interactions with all internal departments, external suppliers, and other Groupe R&D’s
• Create strong links & leverage knowledge other Groupe R&D’s
• Working location between Dworp laboratory and Seneffe factory as required within the stage of the project
• Occasional travel
  

QUALIFICATION

• Master’s degree in engineering or technical bachelor’s degree, or equivalent trough experience
• Proven project management experience is required (5j+)
• Experience in working in an R&D organization, product development and or engineering
• Broad engineering and technology background
• Understanding of a manufacturing organization
• Experience in product certifications is a plus
• Proficiency in common office IT tools incl. SAP, 3D CAD, MS Project
