The purpose of the role

In this role you will promote Food Safety and Quality culture through the business and will ensure the smooth running of the overall QC function in line with the Quality Objectives and business strategy by leading the quality control laboratory effectively, ensuring food safety and testing of incoming raw materials, packaging and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Behave in a hands-on manner in the laboratory being involved in the daily routine testing, sampling and analysis.
  • Manage the Quality Control laboratory
  • Establish good working relationships with both suppliers and customers.
  • Root cause analyses for out of specification raw materials and finished products.
  • Raise the standards of quality in production with regards to rejects and customer complaints.
  • Promote and assure total quality and continuous improvement
  • Carry out and maintains ISO audits
  • Ensure success of customer and 3rd party audits.
  • Deputize as required for Site Quality Manager
  • Proactively and visibly supports the Health and Safety standards, rules and regulations of the organization.
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in science
  • Approved ISO Auditor
  • 3+ years’ experience in precision inspection and quality systems, in a food manufacturing environment
  • Former Lead or Supervisory experience preferred
  • Fluency in Dutch and English
  • Effective team leader
  • Knowledge of microbiology
  • Understanding of analytical chemistry
  • Computer literate
  • Eye for detail
  • Knowledge of HACCP, BRC and customer required standards
  • Sensory skills
  • Relevant laboratory instrumentation courses
  • Problem solving skills
  • Auditing skills
  • Good ability to work accurately under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Self-motivation and determination
  • Effective communication at all levels
  • A key team player
  • Flexible and innovative
  • Ability to work alone when necessary
