Job Description

As a Software Defined Network (SDN) engineer, you will be deployed in the Cloud & Infrastructure Tribe and together with your peers, you will continue to build and thrive the IT network of the future. You will be responsible on designing and developing our SDN based on Application Centric Network principles and keep the network evolving to meet future requirements, both on a functional and on a security level. You will translate your experience with SDN networks towards the user networks. It should be your ambition to have an agile and flexible network to enable the challenges of an exciting landscape in Telecommunications and Media. You’ll be part of a team that is constantly working with cutting edge and diverse technologies.

Your tasks
  • Keep your technology knowledge current and actively explore new opportunities to expand your knowledge
  • Interface with internal teams to acquire requirements and translate this into working solutions
  • Guarantee the stability and security of our network
  • Automate operational tasks as much as possible
  • Build further upon the ‘infrastructure as code’ vision of the team
  • Co-develop the SDN network & security roadmap to support our IT business
Your Profile
  • Clear Communication: You’re an excellent communicator and problem solver
  • Service minded: You keep calm in difficult situations and you always act with operational excellence in mind
  • Technology watch: You constantly maintain an overview of the technology landscape
  • Passion: You’re passionate about technology and have a strong foundation and interest in datacentre networks, user networks (wired & wireless), automation & security devices
  • Flexible: You’re willing to execute interventions outside of business hours and assist our Managed Service Provider when required.
  • Endurance: Your take on life is not a sprint but a marathon and you’re focus is on long term goals and achievements
  • Experience: You have worked with Cisco routers and switches, Cisco ACI, Palo Alto FWs, Checkpoint FWs, Infoblox DNS, Splunk, Ansible, Python, public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container network services. Or you are willing to invest in learning some of these technologies if you’re not familiar with them yet. Proven experience in designing and implementing complex data center networks projects.
