This role will lead the Compliance Global Risk & Controls team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, maintenance and deployment of Enterprise Risk Management processes and reporting, using Key Risk Indicators and supported by the Internal Control Framework (ICF) as GSK’s standard methodology for managing risk. This role will also provide risk management subject matter expertise (SME) support to the Compliance Business Partners and the wider GSK Business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The design and implementation of the ICF as GSK’s standard methodology for managing risk, evolving with reference to industry best practice and regulatory requirements

  • The design of executive level risk frameworks: Enterprise Risk Management at ROCC and ESG risk management at GLT

  • Ensure a fit-for-purpose, data-driven approach to risk management is embedded across the organisation

  • Ensure Behavioural Science is deployed to appropriate risk programmes

  • Based on feedback from Enterprise Risk Owners, ROCC, and other stakeholders, improve and standardize risk management practices and supporting tools so that they are readily applicable and value adding to different levels of management within GSK, simplifying complex practices where appropriate

  • Provide ERM SME support for Enterprise Risk Management processes (e.g., Confirmation, Reporting) as needed

  • Ensure Risk Management guidance is clear and aligned to Policy 500; training is targeted and relevant for different parts of the business; and tools utilize available technology

  • Proactively inform the risk management community of planned changes of the framework, helping them to assess the impact on their ways of working and legacy risk assessment and treatment plans

Job related Experience:

  • Prior knowledge and experience will be primarily applied in business situations to

    • understand, design, and improve ERM processes and

    • engage with multiple stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes that are proportionate to the business risk.

  • The role will require strong leadership, communication skills, and an ability to influence Enterprise Risk Owners. Routine interaction with Compliance LT, as the SME for Risk Management (communicating information, soliciting feedback). Frequent interaction across GSK (within CGA, Finance, business) for internal and external reporting requirements (gathering information, communicating outcomes).

  • The role has a global remit and requires cultural awareness to engage across all GSK international regions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Business, Law or a related field with applicable experience

  • Extensive years in industry with several years of demonstrated leadership and influence

  • High degree of organizational awareness; demonstrated ability to develop solutions to complex problems

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentations to large and small audiences and senior executives.

  • People leadership experience

  • Proven ability to deliver complex services / projects

  • Excellent attention to detail and stakeholder management

  • Knowledge and understanding of risk management and building and implementing control frameworks and improving services to support the corporation

  • Strong understanding of the use of data analytics in risk management

  • Awareness of audit, controls and risk management processes

  • Self-starter, results-oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or MBA

  • Business Acumen - understands implications of decisions from a broad business perspective and uses this knowledge to influence decision-making at the highest levels of R&D and with external partners.

  • Proven ability to drive process improvement in a matrix environment and with demonstrated leadership in the application of innovative approaches with portfolio-level impact.

  • A strong sense of initiative, urgency, drive, pragmatism, and judgement – an ability to make things happen.

  • Ability to deliver to demanding deadlines whilst maintaining the highest quality.
