The Department

To join the Global Engineering Team within Global Industrial Operations, GSK Vaccines.

This newly created role is based in Wavre, Belgium and reports directly to the Director of Strategic Investments for GSK Vaccines (Vx).

Your Responsibilities
  • You are accountable for the successful & safe delivery of the Lyo Program Investment for Belgium (approximately 200M£)
  • Project Management according to the GSK PMF (Project Management Framework) procedures
  • You are responsible for the safety KPIs of your project and the integration of Construction Safety and all EHS related requirements
  • From the very start of the project, you are responsible for the set-up of the project organization and remain responsible from the Conceptual/Basic Engineering to Hand-over and Close-out phase to ensure an outcome which meets all the defined project objectives for cost, schedule, quality, safety and environment and delivers the business benefits.
  • Your role is E2E owner of the Lyo Investment Program for Belgium Vx GSK.
  • You are accountable for project cost estimating, cost controlling and forecasting in partnership with the central support experts that establish the tools & standard ways of working
  • You ensure a clear business case is defined for the program
  • You work with all internal and external stakeholders to have the required project team at your disposal
  • You ensure project are developed with PMF methodology and follow lifecycle of the project
  • You are responsible for preparing the projects for the GSK project governance procedures
  • You are responsible for preparing the project for the stage gate reviews at the end of each project phase
  • You work closely with technical SME teams for the scope development and technical strategy definition of the project
  • You work with customers & PMO to ensure visibility & integration of resource needs in advance
  • You drive the Project Execution Plan process, documenting the project delivery strategy and the success criteria according to the PMF Standard
  • Establish a Quality Plan for the project and is proactive in planning for quality
  • Prepare monthly progress reports according to the PMF Standard
  • Keep the Steering Group and Sponsors informed of critical issues that could jeopardize projects success
  • You develop a risk management strategy for the project and implements associated processes and tools to ensure effective identification, monitoring and management of project risk
  • You lead the qualification of the engineering services providers, contactors and vendors and decide and direct the appropriate contractual strategy. Uses proven selection processes to develop the appropriate contract strategy for the project, selects and manages contractors and settles any claims in accordance with company policy
  • You implement strict project and financial controls, including procedures for change control / management, cost control / forecasting, physical progress / productivity measurement, and invoice review / payment
  • You ensure that the overall commissioning, validation & handover strategy that fully complies with the PM Standard and implement to ensure a timely and complete handover to the Customer.

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with the following required skills to achieve our goals (must-have):
  • Engineering degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Automation, Electrical or Chemical
  • Robust experience with capital investments over 150M £ that involve construction & new equipment & new technologies installations
  • Minimum 12 years of CapEx Project management experience as PM or Program Manager
  • Background in the pharmaceutical industry is required
  • Proficiency in English, written and spoken
  • Strong leadership skills & proven team management
  • Organizational skills
  • Stake holder management, negotiation, communication and influencing skills (up to Executive level)
  • The role requires sound judgment and complex decision making where few precedents and considerable ambiguity may exist
  • Experience in a Change Management

  • Preferred Qualifications

    The following characteristics are assets (nice-to-have):
    • Background in the Vaccines industry is highly desirable
    • Previous experience with Lyophilization equipment facilities is a plus
    • Very good command of French, written and spoken is highly desirable
    • PMP/PMI certification is a plus
    • Knowledge of GSK standards & systems is a plus
    • Proven CapEx project delivery experience within GSK is a plus
