You are the specialist of the Garden environment and its maintenance applications, Garden actors like landscapers, maintenance crews and outdoor architects have no secrets for you. You have affinity with technical safety equipment and professional working gear. As a Senior Trade Manager, your primary responsibility is to manage the Product Lifecycle across your Lawn & Garden & Safety Equipment product categories, driving profitable growth of the business.
Launch of new products, definition of commercial & promotional actions to maximize sales, and efficient phase-out planning for end-of-life products are key in this role. You work closely together with sales, product support and brand communication.
You provide leadership, focused direction and development support to the Junior Trade Coordinator for Lawn & Garden and Safety Equipment. Together, you develop and implement product line strategies and policies, anticipate and respond to market needs, generate and implement new product ideas, prioritize and drive projects and resources, and remove barriers to ensure product line success.
Location: Mont-Saint-Guibert, Belgium
Reports to: Director of Marketing. FLAG Europe
Primary Duties and Responsibilities, other duties maybe assigned as business needs determine. Based on a Product Category time allocation: Safety Equipment / PPE = 40% & L&G 60%
Primary Task (40%) – Product Lifecycle management - Develop and implement plans, policies and targets
•Establish product line direction and anticipate market needs.
•Manage the different stages of the Product Lifecycle for your product categories.
•Translate Garden product strategies into marketing activity plans to drive and achieve incremental sales & profit.
•Define, set-up & roll out the product strategy for a successful Safety Equipment product category in Europe. Target: bring the business from 11MM$ to 20MM$ over the next 5 years.
•Analyze, monitor & recommend pricing strategies across the different sales channels to optimize turnover and profitability.
•Propose programs, activities, processes and product development/upgrades to meet or exceed customer expectations.
•Take prompt and decisive corrective action where gaps exist to ensure product line success.
Second Task (35%) – Product Line Support
•Use competitive product evaluation, market intelligence, sales forecasting, advertising, and packaging toward never-ending internal process improvement.
•Establish incremental and day-to-day product line operational priorities.
•Set project priorities to ensure resources are applied to most important projects.
•Coordinate between cross functional departments.
•Ensure product compliance by mastering the European compliance rules and directives for your product categories and implement, maintain and update the needed compliance documents and product adaptations.
•Participate in developing vendor agreements, zone sales promotions, range planning process & pricing relationships.
Third Task (25%) – Implement, Measure, Correct
•Provide strong leadership and development to the Junior Garden Trade Coordinator role & and maintain continuity between sales, planning, procurement, finance and marketing through conference calls, meetings, meeting notes, etc. to maintain standardization, coordination, and reduce waste.
•Support organizational product line processes and activities.
•Take prompt and decisive corrective action where gaps exist to ensure product line success.
•Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws, including but not limited to goal setting, coaching, counseling and performance management.
•Hold team accountable for process implementation, goals and objectives and ensure continuous company communications on progress, issues, and solutions.
•Responsible for effective change management.
•Keep up to date with advances in continuous improvement and marketing best practices.
Communication and Documentation
•Establish and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with cross-functional division leaders.
•Ensure that the responsibilities, goals and objectives, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
•Communicate with customers regarding improvement efforts and dispute resolution.
•Prepare technical, status and monthly reports.
•Prepare presentations for management and senior leadership team.
•Maintain open communication through conversation and both formal and informal documents.
Education:
•Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, or engineering or equivalent experience
•Master of Business Administration preferred
Knowledge & Experience:
•Minimum 7 years of experience in Product Management with a track record of successful product launches.
•Passion for and experience with forestry, garden, agriculture, construction tools or commercial equipment preferred.
•Demonstrated success in user experience, product delivery processes, positioning, product strategy and product launch.
•Experience working in a global or multi-national environment preferred.

•Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products.

•Excellent communication skills, including business writing, interpersonal and presentation skills.
•Ability to communicate knowledgeably and fluently with sales, planning, procurement & technical services and marketing along with a natural ability to relate to customers and prospects.
•Able to develop and present concise product presentations to Senior Leadership Team and customers.

Availability:
Available to work on site as required by job; eligible for domestic and international travel several times per year.
