Janssen Research & Development develops treatments that improve the health and lifestyles of people worldwide. R&D development areas encompass novel targets in neurologic disorders, gastroenterology, oncology, infectious disease, diabetes, hematology, metabolic disorders, immunologic disorders, pulmonary hypertension and reproductive medicine. Pharmaceutical and Material Sciences is a department is part of the Drug product development Development organization within the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Development & Supply (CPDS) department.
We are responsible for leading the strategy for several drug product development projects. You will be a key member of the ‘solid state selection and characterization’ group. The department is responsible for:
- Developability assessment of Discovery portfolio leads
- Definition of the drug product trajectory
- Solid form selection for the drug substance
- Particle Characterization
- Characterization of Drug Substance, Raw materials and Drug Product
Your Function:
In this exciting role as Solid-State specialist, you will provide input and perform experiments in view of solid state selection for a number of projects in our portfolio. You work out and execute an experimental plan to mitigate risks/gaps related to the selected solid-state form towards the formulation process. You make sure all needed documentation for filing/registration is available in a timely manner and is correct.
Your key responsibilities:
- The candidate should have a confirmed ability to work collaboratively as part of a team (functional Drug Product Development, Analytical Development and Chemical Development teams), possess excellent interpersonal skills (both written and verbal), operate with a high sense of urgency
- Ability to prioritize, maintain confidentiality and operate with respect and professionalism in a sophisticated, high-profile, and constantly evolving environment.
- The ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision and achieve results in a fast-paced environment is required.
- Providing guidance and support to the Crystallization Technology Unit in the development of crystallization processes.
- Designing, setting up form screens and experiments in order to understand relationships (conversion mechanisms). Defining the stability of different polymorphic forms.
- You have the knowledge on structural, dynamic and thermodynamic characterization of new molecular entities and multicomponent systems.
- Ability to use computational & modelling tools applied to the field of solid-state chemistry.
- Curiosity and aspiration to expand your solid-state expertise in a number of analytical techniques (i.e., thermal analysis, spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, DVS).
- Introducing innovations in the field of Solid-State chemistry.
