The semiconductor technology industry is facing a critical shortage of skilled workers, which threatens its competitiveness and innovation potential. imec, as the world-leading research and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies, offers a wide range of workforce development actions to support the industry in tackling this skill shortage challenge. Imec’s current offering includes expert level courses for R&D engineers, internships, PhD and postdoctoral research programs, MOOCs, apprenticeships for technicians, etc.
As a Technical WorkForce Development Coordination Manager, your main tasks will be:
- To develop the strategy and coordinate the technical training program offering for R&D engineers and technicians of imec and its industrial partners in cooperation with the imec researchers, portfolio managers, sales team, imec academy, and IP & export compliance.
- To lead negotiations with imec partners on imec’s workforce development offering.
- To support the smart education program manager for defining and evaluating imec’s life-long learning research making on-the-job training in highly automated manufacturing environments scalable.
- To develop the strategy and coordinate the train-the-trainer package for academic master and for professional bachelor higher education programs.
- To choose content delivery formats for technical training that combine best experience for trainees with scalability of the offering.
- To guarantee the quality of imec’s workforce development offering.
- To act as the central point of contact for imec’s external workforce development offering to internal and external stakeholders, including imec’s industrial partners, public authorities, academic faculty, and university and community college presidencies in Belgium, Europe, the Americas and APAC.
- To represent imec on all public events where imec’s workforce development program is highlighted.
- You will report to the Corporate Strategy Officer (CSO).

Who you are
We are looking for a highly motivated person with the following assets:
- An engineering background in the field of electronics and its applications in health and industry.
- A pedagogical background that allows you to comprehend customer’s training needs, produce relevant training packages, and evaluate their delivery quality.
- A passion for talent development in an advanced technological environment.
- A team player mindset. You are diplomatic and capable of readily communicating with industrial customers, upper management, scientists, R&D engineers, technicians, and academic faculty.
- A proactive approach and a “get things done” attitude.
- A desire to keep yourself informed of the latest evolution of techniques and technologies in broad, allowing you to easily communicate with scientists.
- A thorough understanding of training delivery formats.
- Knowledge of AI-based tools to re-format or re-purpose content, to generate tests, and to answer questions is an asset.
- A straight-forward and solution-oriented approach that inspire s colleagues to submit high-quality and timely feedback.
- An ability to give constructive feedback that helps trainers to go the extra mile to deliver top quality.
- Fluency in English
- An active knowledge of Dutch and other languages like French, German or Spanish is an asset.
