What you will do as a Young Engineer Network & Data Operations

Do you have a Master’s degree in engineering and less than two years’ professional experience?

Then why not engage in this traineeship in order to improve your technical know-how and managerial skills?

During this programme, you will help manage and future proof our grid from the control rooms (Dispatching), which form the beating heart of the transmission system. You will actively tackle challenges related to the day-to-day operation of the high-voltage grid, thus planning outages to allow for grid maintenance or expansion work, contributing to our activities via our EMS/SCADA system, calculation tools and asset data systems, and implementing change projects to ensure that we are ready to face future challenges.

You will follow a two-year individual training programme. You will spend six-month periods shadowing teams specialising in various areas, namely regional dispatching, planning, data management, Operational and Safety Excellence (O&SE) and change projects. This two-year programme aims to give you the technical and managerial skills you need to later serve as a Network and Data Operations manager or as the manager of one of the many other Elia teams with which you will come into contact during your training (e.g. maintenance, infrastructure projects, national dispatching, grid development, asset management, IT).

  • You hold a degree in industrial or civil engineering or have a technical background with equivalent experience and a particular interest in electricity.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and have a good command of French, or are fluent in French and have a good command of Dutch.
