We are looking for a Gene Therapy Downstream Process Scientist who is innovative, collaborative, and results-oriented to join our Process Sciences team, based at our UCB site inLeuven, Belgium.

About The Role

You will play a crucial role in developing recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) gene therapy products. You will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and executing downstream process development, characterization, and tech transfer for rAAV purification processes.

Who You Will Work With

You will work closely with internal teams such as upstream, analytics, and process engineering to create an efficient downstream production platform for UCB’s gene therapy pipeline. You will also support the establishment of UCB’s new gene therapy development facility at Braine l’Alleud, Belgium.

What You Will Do

• Design and execute chromatography and filtration studies.
• Be responsible for optimizing purification processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop efficient processes.
• Author and review technical documents.
• Support facility design and process development according to Quality-by-Design (QbD) principles.
• Identify and assess innovative technologies to improve rAAV purification platforms.
• Adhere to compliant and safe working practices

Interested? For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills

• Technical knowledge of biologics downstream process development.
• Experience with cGMP manufacturing guidelines and technical investigations.
• Basic knowledge of biologics analytics like spectrophotometry and DLS.
• Interpersonal skills to maintain good working relationships.
• Experience with data and statistical analysis.
• Fluency in French and English is desired.
