Our client is an international (mid-sized) organization active in the agricultural sector.
Job Description
The Global QHSE Manager oversees quality, health, safety, bio-safety, environment, and regulatory stewardship for our global product and production operations. This role is responsible for developing, managing, supervising, and coordinating work systems to ensure the highest safety standards are met across all business areas, from R&D to Expedition and beyond. The role reports to the Director of Supply Chain with a dotted line to the Executive Management Team.
Strategic Direction & Management:
- Determine the strategic direction and work priorities for continuous improvement of global QHSE management programs and systems.
- Advise and assist with the implementation of new or existing QHSE-related legislation, rules, and company standards.
- Lead, develop, and maintain global QHSE management programs in written and online formats, ensuring effective communication, training and team briefing.
- Support line management in delivering global QHSE objectives.
- Conduct regular prevention inspections, maintaining comprehensive records.
- Investigate accidents, ensuring all documentation is updated and complete.
- Develop and implement a monthly QHSE communication strategy, including written information, toolbox talks, and management briefs.
- Manage company preparations for internal and external audits.
- Establish procedures & standards based on legal and contractual regulatory requirements with respect to bio-safety and GM stewardship and assure the compliance with them.
- Manage & coordinate legal obligations under the Nagoya protocol for access and benefit sharing of biological resources.
- Support de-regulation process.
- Follow up on new regulatory developments (e.g. novel breeding technologies, food safety, logistics).
- Provide expertise in incident investigation and reporting, including dangerous occurrences and occupational diseases.
- Facilitate risk assessments and act as a final authority where specialist responses are required.
- Conduct surveys related to occupational health and safety, providing recommendations based on findings.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 year’s experience within the agriculture or related industry (food, pharmaceutical) of which at least 5 years in an QHSE management role with line management experience.
Furthermore:
- Relevant degree in quality, health, safety, environment management.
- Experience in risk management, method statement review, site inspections, policy development, compliance maintenance and risk assessment.
- Experience with BSI ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.
- Pragmatic approach
- Ability to establish and improve an international team
- Strong results delivery, partnership building and influencing skills.
- Detail oriented with strong organization skills and capacity level with stakeholders across levels.
- Fluent in English, considered a nice to have such as: Dutch, Danish, French
