At Janssen Chemical Process R&D we are recruiting a Group Leader for our Beerse campus in Belgium. The Chemical Process Research and Development (CPRD) department is seeking a Group Leader Process Research & Development (Senior Scientist) to join our team in Beerse, Belgium. The goal of our department is to find innovative ways towards new synthetic routes and solutions that enable large scale manufacturing of innovative medicines. The group leader will have managerial responsibility for a team of lab scientists within Process R&D Beerse, including definition and following-up on individual goals & objectives and development plans. They are also responsible for the evaluation of performance and leading, coaching and developing their direct reports. In addition, the group leader will be taking on a scientific role in support of the development portfolio (matrix leader role, e. g. leading a team in a development program). Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. degree with minimum 4 years of experience in the area of process chemistry within the pharmaceutical industry Master in Organic chemistry or related area with minimum 7 years of professional experience in process chemistry Passion to share knowledge and develop others EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Ability to connect with, manage and develop a diverse team Demonstrated ability to handle challenging situations as (scientific) leader Excellent oral and written communication skills, fluent in English both verbal and in writing Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient manner Team player mentality, the ability to collaborate in a diverse team environment to find solutions for complex problems, willing to challenge the status quo in a constructive manner DIFFERENTIATING COMPETENCIES Prior leadership experience Experience in change management Familiarity with compliance requirements within cGMP, safety and regulatory environments Our offer: An exciting position in an international and dynamic environment with continuous learning and growth opportunities Working on a site that harbors all aspects of the drug discovery and development process, located close to the vibrant city of Antwerp.
