HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER - KORTRIJK (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION

As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing the foundation of innovative products by designing, testing, and refining hardware components that meet high-performance standards.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, systems architects, and product managers, to bring designs from concept to reality. This position offers the chance to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the creation of reliable, efficient, and scalable hardware solutions.

In this role, you will be entrusted with designing and implementing complex hardware systems, ensuring they align with both technical specifications and cost constraints. Your expertise in circuit design, PCB layout, and hardware validation will directly impact the quality and functionality of the products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define hardware requirements and translate them into detailed schematics and PCB designs.
• Develop and optimize circuits for analog, digital, and mixed-signal applications, ensuring performance and reliability.
• Select components and ensure compatibility with cost, performance, and manufacturability goals.
• Prototype and iterate on hardware designs to meet specifications and resolve design challenges.
• Conduct testing to validate hardware functionality, reliability, and compliance with performance standards.
• Debug hardware issues using tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Perform system-level testing and collaborate with firmware teams for seamless integration.
• Create and maintain design documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, and bills of materials (BOM).
• Document test procedures and results to support production and certification processes.
• Research new technologies and propose design improvements to enhance product performance and cost-efficiency.
• Identify and mitigate design risks to ensure robust hardware solutions.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers and supply chain specialists, to align hardware designs with overall product goals.
• Provide technical support during production and post-launch phases.
• Ensure designs meet regulatory and industry standards such as FCC, CE, and RoHS.
• Support quality assurance and certification efforts for new products.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in hardware design and development.
• Proven expertise in PCB design, microcontroller interfacing, and hardware debugging.
• Proficiency in hardware design tools like Altium Designer, Cadence, or OrCAD.
• Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits, RF design (if applicable), and power systems.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware integration.
• Hands-on experience with testing equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and precision.
