The Research & Innovation function (R&I) leads Solvay into new growth territories with breakthrough innovation to generate new products, applications and processes in the field of sustainable chemistry. Partners with the GBUs to deliver more value and leverages the Group’s capabilities to improve competitiveness and create new business opportunities for Solvay and its customers.

Job Overview and Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with GBU Innovation Excellence Network and Group Portfolio Management Director, finalize the scope and key deliverables of the program to boost the effectiveness of project execution across the BSA. Lead this project with key work streams as per the agreed-upon schedule, and monitor + report progress, collect relevant “voice of customer” feedback and adapt content as needed to maximize the value and impact of the workstreams.
  • Lead or provide support to Innovation Excellence Team projects that address identified gaps in key innovation-related processes and practices. Collaborate with team members to provide training, support, and coaching in ongoing, established areas, e.g. WEGO, Agile coaching, etc.
  • Lead or provide support to identification & deployment of transformational innovation management programs across Research & Innovation BSA to enhance and accelerate innovation delivery.
  • Serve as the Single Point Accountable (“SPOC”) reference for 2 or more entities. The SPOC is the primary reference from the Team to answer questions, provide support, collect feedback/suggestions, etc. on innovation excellence-related topics.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in technical/scientific field of relevance to Solvay (chemistry, material science, engineering, data science, etc.). An advanced degree would be considered a “plus.”
  • 5+ years of industrial experience in Research & Innovation, including experience working on or (preferably) leading innovation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Basic knowledge of Innovation Project & Portfolio Management practices and methodologies; skills beyond the basics are a “plus”.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), and/or related statistical tools with successful demonstration would be a strong “Plus”.

Skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills. Ability to communicate, influence, and impact across complex organizations and different cultures. Initiative, achievement drive, learning orientation.
Effective oral and written communication skills in English are a “must,” while other languages are a “plus”.

Additional Information

  • Travel requirements are around 10%.
