- Master in Materials or Chemical Engineering (preferably focus on Plastic/Composites)
- Familiar with material analytical techniques with hands-on working style
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills reinforced by good common sense are a must
- Quick and eager learner with a flexible mind and genuine curiosity in technology
- Team player with good communication skills inside a multicultural environment
- Fluent in English (verbal/written), additional European language skills are an asset
- Basic computer skills: (MS Office). Any data analysis and CAE knowledge is an asset

The Material Engineering division (ME) is part of the R&D group at Toyota Motor Europe Technical Center in Zaventem, Belgium. By utilization of wide and deep material knowledge as well as evaluation & analysis capability, its mission is to conduct research, to develop and to introduce attractive & environment-friendly materials.
The Fuel Cell (FC) technology team is responsible of investigating and developing innovative technologies to reduce cost and/or improve performance of FCEV: from the FC stack to the hydrogen tank, the team supports the introduction of these technology to the final product and contribute to strengthening the Toyota image in Europe.
Your responsibilities:
Your activity will mainly cover (but not exclusively):
- Investigation of manufacturing and recycling technologies for carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP)
- Investigation of tank liner manufacturing and material
- Benchmark of innovative concepts for H2 storage in EU
You will use different approaches to deal with these topics, from literature study to material characterization to actual sample production and testing. The goal will be to identify technology gaps and issues, suggest solutions and improvement.
We can only accept students with an EEA or Swiss citizenship (not requiring a work permit or visa to be eligible to perform an internship in Belgium)
