The Associate Director, Business Operations will be responsible for oversight and execution of essential financial and business planning activities for Discovery scientific functions. Through dedicated partnership with functional leaders and their teams, this individual will apply a deep understanding of the function’s scientific strategy and objectives to develop appropriate budgets, resourcing plans, and outsourcing strategies. To this end, this role will collaborate with a number of key internal functions (Finance, Procurement, Legal, Alliance Management, Lab Operations) as well as serve as lead contact for numerous external partners (CROs). This role will also be responsible for contributing to the development and use of Discovery Business Operations tools, resources, and analytics, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement, and ensuring business planning activities align with an overall effort to harmonize processes across Discovery. Success in this role will be dependent on the ability to be an effective change agent, influence without direct authority, and proficiently navigate complex situations toward straightforward solutions. Qualifications Required Minimum Education: BS or BA degree in biological or chemical science Required Years of Related Experience: At least 5 years of experience in laboratory sciences and operations in pharma R&D Knowledge/understanding of pharma Experience working in a laboratory environment and knowledge of current organizational structure Strong organizational skills related to data management Demonstrated experience developing and executing complex strategic initiatives Demonstrated success at developing highly collaborative and effective relationships in complex, highly matrixed organization Ability to present and communicate with stakeholders Individual must have demonstrated experience and success with external partnerships Experience with financial management Ability to translate data into information and strategies into executable action plans Johnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
