For the Engineering department at our headquarters in Brussels (near the train station and subway, see the map here) we’re looking for an Automation Engineer (m/f/x).

The Engineering Department is responsible for designing gas installation projects in view of their realisation, this in compliance with the rules for quality, reliability and safety.

purpose

Ensuring the correct operation and safety of Fluxys installations by leveraging your expertise in designing and monitoring these facilities. Helping to move the company forward by monitoring market developments.

Your
responsibilities

  • Within our design and engineering office and in consultation with your colleagues, you will be in charge of designing the control system and monitoring the installations. In this context, you will draw up engineering documents, such as data communication diagrams, functional analyses and descriptions, specifications, test programmes, etc.
  • You will work actively on launching, testing (FAT, SAT), regulating and transferring installations You will also handle activities related to the precommissioning and commissioning of E&I facilities
  • After a brief introductory period, you can quickly work independently and commission systems
  • You will write programmes for industrial controllers, PLCs and SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) packages. You will monitor developments for larger or more complex projects and you will document these programmes
  • You will monitor market developments and you will help to consistently grow corporate control, visualisation and data acquisition networks. You will develop standard concepts for instrumentation, regulation, control, monitoring and data collection, and present them for approval to the working group
  • In connection with EPC (engineering procurement and construction) projects, you will carry out front-end engineering design (FEED) for automation. You will assess whether the proposed ordering platform complies with FEED. You will evaluate the testing plan, monitor it and assist the operator with documentation and spare parts

you

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A master’s degree in industrial engineering, civil engineering, with a focus onindustrial instrumentation and automation
  • Five years of experience in an industrial environment (refineries, , chemicals or petrochemicals)
  • Knowledge of industrial processes, instrumentation, PLCs and DCS systems (Siemens, ABB, Allen Bradley, etc.) would be a plus
  • An ability to communicate with impactand to tailor your communication to the people you are talking to
  • Genuine team spirit enabling you to forge links between various departments
  • Excellent analytical skills, a keen eye for detail and a focus on results, helping you to understand the different aspects of the business process in an integrated and holistic way
  • A very good command of French, Dutch and English
