Business controller

Welcome to BASF Antwerp NV, the second largest production site of the BASF group, and the largest chemical company in Belgium. We are looking for a business controler who wants to be part of our fascinating company.

As Business controller, you will have comprehensive accountability and responsibility for finance and controlling related topics for our plants at the Antwerp Verbund site. For your area of expertise, you are key contact person resulting in an intensive interaction with the local plant management as well as with the business controlling department in our headquarters. More specifically, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

• You will be accountable for the monthly reporting (month end closing) of the plant’s financial results towards the business controlling department and the local management, including the creation of the monthly forecast.
• You will analyze cost trends with the local plant-, asset- and maintenance management teams, to identify cost drivers and jointly define actions to increase value and meet financial targets.
• You will be accountable for the economic evaluation of the business cases related to investments or maintenance activities executed in the plant.
• You will be in charge of preparing the local capex and fixed cost budgets and explain the main drivers to the business controlling department.
• You will check compliance with financial requirements and follow-up on critical aspects.
• Thereby, you will gain insight in the chemical production process, the plant setup and position in the Antwerp Verbund and take up your role as a respected business partner that can challenge efficiently and co-operate constructively.
• Beyond that, you will be part of a committed business controlling team at the Antwerp Verbund site that shares best practices and implements common solutions, striving to increase value for our internal customers.
  

• You have a master degree with an excellent understanding of accounting and relevant working experience in Controlling.
• You have an entrepreneurial spirit that helps you to dig into topics to identify added value for the production plants.
• You are an enthusiastic team player who can work independently, but also enjoys sharing experience with your colleagues.
• You have excellent capabilities for abstract thinking and you like to improve and optimize processes to make them more efficient and effective.
• Furthermore, you have persuasive communication and presentation skills. A fluent knowledge of Dutch is required.
• You complete your profile with a strong interest in IT and a good knowledge of MS Office.
