Business Development Manager Automotive

Ascend Performance Materials is a rapidly growing global leader in the production of polyamides, seeking a Business Development Manager Automotive with proven capabilities to join our strong and competent team of industry professionals.

The position will be responsible of promoting the use of Ascend’s Vydyne grades in Automotive applications, interacting primarily with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers in the region.

As a member of the European Ascend Performance Material’s engineering plastics team, the BDM will be reporting to the European Business Development Leader and working closely with the Platform Business and Segment Leaders, networking with various commercial, technical and manufacturing functions.

This is a home office position requiring 50% of travel activity.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years Automotive / Emobility experience with an in-depth knowledge of plastic applications.
  • Sales experience in the related industry a plus.
  • Experience working with the engineering organizations of automotive OEMs and tier suppliers.
  • Effective in delivering technical presentations to large groups of industry professionals or non-technical executives.
  • Knowledge of polymer structure, properties and performance is a plus.
  • Must be a strategic and innovative thinker with strong problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit by not just thinking, but working “outside the box”.

Job Responsibilities

  • Working with sales and platform teams to identify new application needs at OEM, Tier-1, Tier-2 accounts.
  • Support the formal product/material approval process. Understand and manage customer material requirements and work with internal organization to ensure material approvals are completed as required to secure new business.
  • Meet growth targets as defined in our LRP.
  • Establish the networks within the engineering communities, especially pre-development.
  • Initiate projects for new business opportunities
  • Understand and articulate the customer requirements
  • Support the development of the European automotive segment strategy
