As a Category Buyer for DEME Group, you will develop and implement sourcing strategies for a defined set of commodities, take the lead in managing a portfolio of preferred suppliers, build up extensive market knowledge, work together with internal stakeholders to strive for best fit solutions and be an advocate of procurement best practices within the organization. As a Category Buyer within the team “Machinery Equipment” you will take the lead – on a tactical/strategic level – in procurement of equipment and services within the assigned technical category. You will mainly work from our HQ in Zwijndrecht, Belgium.
Your responsibilities
- Be responsible for strategic sourcing with focus on TCO optimization;
- Lead cross functional teams with focus on early involvement of business & functional stakeholders;
- Conclude and maintain framework agreements;
- Be accountable for the implementation, communication & optimization of framework agreements;
- Conduct market research (knowledge of suppliers, state of the art technology, etc.)
- Initiate QHSES and financial audits as responsible for the supplier onboarding process;
- Develop and sustain supplier relationship with key supplier;
- Ensure compliance with sourcing procedures and contract management;
- Centralizes category experience, methodology and category strategy, incl. related documents;
- Identify end to end opportunities within the DEME supply chain
- Within the category assigned – Shipyards:
- safeguard the procurement procedures are being followed;
- provide a long list of potential subcontractors/suppliers;
- ensure the correct documents are being used (ITT/ RfQ , contract/PO, NDA’s,
- assist the project team with technical and commercial clarifications and qualifications;
- take the lead in the contractual clarifications and qualifications;
- timely involve other supporting departments where required;
Your profile
- You hold a master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Naval, Industrial or similar)
- Relevant experience in the ship repair/ ship building industry in commercial, estimating or sales department
- Experience within procurement preferable
- Excellent analytical capabilities and presentation skills (efficient usage of MS Office Excel and Powerpoint)
- Effective communication skills in English, knowledge of Dutch & other languages is an asset;
- Soft skills: Entrepreneurial spirit, Team builder, Team player, positive attitude, hands-on mentality, accuracy, drive for ownership and results and high level of integrity;
