About the Unit

Yara Technology and Projects (YTP) Projects Engineering department is part of the YTP Projects Unit within YTP. YTP Projects is responsible for developing and maintaining the Project Management Process and the Capital Value Process in Yara. In this role, YTP Projects is entitled to monitor the implementation of these processes across Yara.
The YTP Projects Engineering department comprises all technical disciplines and it supports YTP Projects in carrying out technical studies and project activities like monitoring and guiding contractors and suppliers in their engineering activities.

The YTP Projects Engineering department is currently seeking a Competence Lead Electrical to further develop the Engineering Electrical department in order to continuously improve YTP’s project delivery.

You will be responsible to develop the department related to electrical. You will lead a group of approximately 6 electrical (senior-) engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the electrical department within YTP-Projects Engineering in compliance with Yara HESQ, ethical, and Yara Productivity System principles;
  • Ensure excellence in project delivery and that the quality requirements are met;
  • Coach and develop people to their best delivering world-class electrical services;
  • Set Goals and Priorities for improving the skills and overall electrical Engineering capabilities within the department,
  • Development, engineering and administration of all feasibility, conceptual design, engineering, plant assistance and construction at all facilities operated by Yara and any joint ventures with Yara in accordance with Yara’s Capital Value Process Directive;
  • Development / maintaining of functional and detailed electrical engineering technical standards and templates;
  • Participate in troubleshooting and failure analysis as requested;
  • Participate in life-time assessment of equipment or emergency repairs;
  • Manage the departmental budget and controlling expenses effectively;
  • Collaborates together with the other Competence Leads within YTP-Projects Engineering department to ensure that projects are adequately staffed and supported;
  • Collaborate closely and effectively with other Yara departments (TPO’s, related to networking, Communities of Practice …);
  • Make recommendations to management and make sure project risks can be reduced, quality can be enhanced and timely decisions can be taken.

Profile

  • Master degree in Electrical engineering, with relevant experience > 10years.
  • Capacity to handle complex problem solving, good analytical skills and “hands on” attitude;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex electrical projects aspects in the (petro)chemical industry;
  • Interpersonal skills - proven record in coaching and developing multinational teams;
  • Practical and theoretical-background knowledge of software tools for electrical engineering (eg. Etap Power System Analysis Software);
  • Knowledge of large machines and rectifiers is a plus;
  • Solid understanding and commitment to YPS principles;
  • Proven track record of line management and people development skills;
  • Demonstrated successful experience in interacting with engineering contractors in different contractual models and related to multi-location execution;
  • Excellent stakeholder management;
  • Willingness to frequently travel in an international environment;
  • Fluent in English, additional languages are an asset.

Additional Information

The Competence Lead Electrical reports to the Head of Engineering and the position will be based in Yara’s Brussels offices.
