Design Engineer

| Your challenges?

In the Cycle Studies sub-group, you will be in charge of core reload design, reload safety verification and core operational support for the Belgian nuclear power plants. The main tasks are:

• Definition of the new core loading patterns consistently with the Utility requirements
• Verification of the cycle safety as regards the core neutronics and thermal-hydraulic aspects
• Engineering studies in support to the Utility, in particular participation to the start-up tests and to the core depletion follow-up (monthly analysis of in-core measurements, calibration of the excore, …)
• Analyses the flux maps and monitors the measured values in order to verify the compliance with their limit value of the parameters listed in the technical specifications
• Assists the Utility in all exploitation events relevant for his/her competencies in collaboration with the "Core Monitoring and Operation" team

| What do we expect from you?

• Civil or industrial engineer, specialized in nuclear energy, physics or electromechanics, or B.Sc. in physics.
• A practical proficiency in core physics calculations would be an asset.
• Keen to develop a technical expertise
• Have a good theoretical background in PWR nuclear systems and core physics phenomena.
• Interested in the technical knowledge of various disciplines of Core Physics (in particular neutronics but also thermal-hydraulics, nuclear fuel thermomechanics).
• Speak English and French or Dutch with a good practice of the other language.
• Apply self-verification with a rigorous mind and you deliver quality within tight schedules.
• Good listener, dynamic and you like teamworking.
