Job Summary
The main responsibility of the Senior Director of Downstream Marketing, Direct Markets EMEA is to set the direction and strategy for the implementation of marketing plans and initiatives to increase revenue growth and profitability for the TIS full range of products.
The Senior Director of Downstream Marketing plans, directs and controls all marketing activities of respective product portfolio, including the setting of Direct Markets EMEA marketing objectives and policies, in close cooperation with BU TIS and the Sales & Marketing Managers.
Establishes Direct Markets EMEA marketing goals to ensure growth and protection of market share and profitability of products/services.
Builds, supports and grows an effective EMEA Downstream Marketing (Direct Markets) team.
Job Responsibilities
- Aligns with EMEA marketing strategies and leads the Marketing Planning process for the Direct markets. Evolves/localizes plans and initiatives as relevant to grow Direct Markets business across EMEA and achieve TIS objectives.
- Establishes marketing goals to ensure therapy penetration, market share and profitability of products & services are maintained or enhanced taking into account the strategy and input of the BU TIS
- Ensures high level EMEA strategy works effectively for the Direct Markets to take and protect market share, including robust anti-competitor strategy.
- Ensures strategic marketing campaigns are cascaded and implemented at branch level.
- Takes a data-driven approach to analysing the Direct Markets portfolio presence, identifying and acting upon local market, competitor and customer trends in order to optimize marketing effectiveness and approach to the market.
- Drives tailored, differentiated, product offering, value-based healthcare service and solutions, and channel management towards different customer segments, working closely with the TIS Solutions & Innovation Group Marketing Manager.
- Guides team in localizing marketing initiatives, materials/tools and customer education programs to implement key strategies within local markets.
- Facilitates the implementation and execution of marketing activity and measures the ROI at country level to ensure resources are deployed in the most effective way possible.
- Aligns with EMEA BU product launch strategy and tactics to effectively commercialise and measure success of the downstream launches. Works closely together with Clinical and Regulatory Divisions on clinical product evaluation and registrations as relevant.
- Ensures market access strategies are effective at the local level, working closely with the BU Market Access team.
- Builds close relationships and ways of working with the Sales & Marketing Managers in each country and aligns on team objectives for direct and dotted line reports.
- Supports execution of relevant segmentation, targeting and channel engagement strategy for Downstream Marketing, aligned to BU objectives, to drive regional growth and effectively communicate with relevant customer segments.
- Identifies business growth opportunities and unmet customer requirements and provides vision and focus to move ideas to market.
- Works with the Direct Markets team and supply chain colleagues to provide input on forecast, inventory control, clinical evaluations etc.
- Actively engages with KOLs and participates in physician review panels to build relationships and provide effective customer feedback on product plans and marketing strategies.
- Shares best practice and ways of working with the Marketing Director of Distributor Markets to drive consistency and elevate marketing skills and knowledge.
- Ensures consistency and effective ways of working between Direct reports and dotted line team members, as well as across all portfolios and countries.
- Identifies and develops talent. Builds an effective and strong team.
- Oversees and approves Marketing spend to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, keeping close to the local Sales & Marketing Managers who hold responsibility for the P&L.
- Effectively manages the monthly, quarterly and yearly budget and allocation of resources associated with Downstream Marketing team activities, in close co-operation with the Sales & Marketing Managers.
- Inputs to congress activity as relevant; oversees all internal and external event activities to ensure alignment with Direct Markets Marketing strategies.
Profile Description
- Degree/Masters in Business, preferably linked to the medical Paramedical or Pharmaceutical Industry or proven relevant experience.
- 10 plus years in sales/marketing and 5 plus years in a leadership role.
- Ability to assume positions of increasing scale and responsibility
- Willingness to travel extensively and be present in the field.
- Practical experience in all marketing (research) techniques and preferable a good helicopter view on the major future tendencies in the Downstream Marketing (Direct Markets) market.
- Must have international experience with deep knowledge of the key EMEA markets and an active and effective professional network in the region.
- Strong analytical skills (to understand local markets and customer needs) in order to develop EMEA country specific plans, strategies and tactics.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills required for interaction with various leadership levels and various functions and stakeholders internally and externally.
- Proven ability to work in a complex, changing environment while delivering results to the organization across several cultures
- Advanced business skills, including strong presentation skills, strategic planning, financial and organizational acumen
- Ability to plan, manage and execute projects within budget and on schedule
- Ability to work cooperatively in a matrix environment
