Role DescriptionIn this role, you will be accountable for working in close partnership with the Medical Affairs and Market Access colleagues to providing guidance on data strategies (internal mapping and external data landscaping) and RWD opportunities across our infectious disease vaccine portfolio. This role will be reporting within the EMEA RWE team with a focus on the vaccine portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of data strategies for our vaccine portfolio and infectious disease products
- Map out and maintain the vaccine landscape of current initiatives and future EMEA opportunities for enabling access to real world data. Evaluate continuously in partnership with the EMEA Integrated Brand Value Teams (IBVTs), Early Portfolio teams, the HEMAR/RWE, and Medical Affairs Function (MAF) teams in the affiliates, the data landscape opportunities
- Continuously explore opportunities for strategic partnerships with academia, hospital networks, public health institutions, and evaluate the value and implementation of federated data networks as need it
- Explore existing electronic data sources, researching natural history of diseases to understand the inherent risks associated with the indication; observational research methods development; using historical clinical trial data and other data sources (registries, national surveillance data, RWD cohorts) to develop an understanding of potential effectiveness and safety issues for new vaccines and populations, based on experience with prior vaccines or therapeutics
- Keep up to date with the regulatory (EMA) and NITAG within the EMEA region on vaccine landscape and requirements.
Technical Expertise And Background
- Master’s degree and/or a PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health or related field in health care area is required
- At least 5 years of Epidemiology research experience is required. Background in epidemiology research relating to infectious disease/vaccines is required; industry experience in vaccines is also required
- Strong expertise on stakeholder network building and management with external partners. Experience with federated data networks would be a plus
- Experience working with large administrative or medical records databases is preferred and experience working with health authorities, public-private research consortia and complex external partnerships is preferred.
- At least 5 year experience in health infectious disease and more specifically in one or more of the following areas: viral vaccines (HIV, RSV, COVID-19, Ebola, Zika); bacterial vaccines (ExPec), hepatitis B, respiratory, etc.
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Ability to think strategically and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, recognizing the potential value generated by information generated through these partnerships and the ability to communicate the value accordingly to ensure any financial and FTE commitments
- Ability to lead, influence and motivate teams, create alignment across functions and geographies, and work constructively with diverse groups
- Excellent networking, listening, presentation, negotiation and scientific writing skills
- Open for change and flexible attitude to be able to handle a complex, multiple stakeholder environment internally as well as externally
- Seeing the big picture whilst also being very analytical and with eye for details as needed.
The EMEA RWE team is a virtual team (each team member is based in different countries across Europe) so the successful candidate can telework and be based in his/her current European country of residence (as long as easy access to travel/ transportation and local hosting is available at a Janssen office). This role will involve some travel across the EMEA region (to be determined in the post-COVID new normal).
