Based in Mons, Belgium you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will be responsible for p roviding support to all activities needed to characterize all NATO SATCOM terminals.

About you

We’re looking for a talented and knowledgeable SATCOM professional with ideally a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (such as, Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering) and 2 years post-related experience.

A different qualification coupled with particularly relevant experience may also be considered.

• Recent experience in the operation or maintenance of satellite ground terminals/stations, or related systems such as radars or Line-Of-Sight Radio Frequency (RF) based communications systems;
• In-depth understanding and hands-on experience for the testing of communications equipment, earth station/terminal systems. More in details:
  • In-depth understanding and experience in antenna systems (including tracking systems), transmit and receive chains, modems, electronically protected modems (EPMs), network management and control, cryptographic equipment, routers, switches, GPS-disciplined frequency reference standards and associated distribution systems;
  • Experience in analysis of solution-supplier data and presentation of performance (e.g. G/T, EIRP, etc);
  • Experience in link analysis including budgets (link, transmission etc);
• Experience with Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems as it relates to Enterprise Communications Infrastructure
• Experience with AC Power distribution equipment, emergency AC Power generation and associated fuel storage, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS);
• Experience with Digital-Line-of-Sight (DLOS), fibre optical cables and other tails systems;
• Knowledge of servo-mechanisms and emergency power generating systems;
• Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, video transmission principles and telecommunications quality assurance practices;
• Knowledge of basic IP network functional principles, network design and implementation;
• Knowledge of Logistic Support, managing the supply and replenishment of spare parts, dispatch of faulty units for repair.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills;
• Experience in writing, analysing and commenting on technical documents;
• In-depth knowledge and analysis of digital principles and techniques, TCP/IP fundamentals, and telecommunications quality assurance practices;
  

Knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is essential.
