About the business area:
Based in Braine l’Alleud, Belgium you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join the NATO Integrated Mobile Service Centre, which provides NATO and its partners with scalable, protected, secure, reliable, and integrated Wireless Communication-based Services with a focus on NATO Operations, Crisis Response, Missions, Exercises and Business Continuity. The NIMSC Chief is responsible for planning and executing all lifecycle management activities for centre’s following services: strategy, design, transition, operation and continuous service improvement including subject matter expertise, research and development, acquisition and logistic support.

Business Manager:
This pivotal role serves as the Deputy Chief NIMSC; providing operational leadership and driving innovation within the NIMSC business area. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing strategic business initiatives, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality capabilities and services across NIMSC.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Drive the achievement of NIMSC business targets in alignment with Agency-wide goals.
- Lead initiatives to adopt best practices, optimize processes, and address evolving customer demands.
- Foster innovation through collaboration with stakeholders, industry partners, and academia.
- Provide strategic oversight of NIMSC capabilities and service delivery, including mobile platforms and wireless infrastructure.
- Mentor and empower the NIMSC management team, ensuring resource allocation aligns with strategic goals.
- Manage programmatic, budgetary, and financial responsibilities effectively.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance NIMSC objectives.
- Represent NIMSC in high-level meetings, conferences, and committees, safeguarding strategic priorities.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence across teams.
The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:
- A Master’s degree in a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience.
- Proven success in managing large-scale programs, projects, and services, preferably in an international context. Prior experience working with NATO in a relevant capacity is highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of business process improvement and innovative service delivery within a complex organizational structure.
- Expertise in fostering collaboration among multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
This critical post acts as the Chief NIMSC’s primary advisor, focusing on high-level strategic support, facilitation, and executive coordination. The successful candidate should expect to add immense value by handling the day-to-day executive functions and coordination of this key business area. This post may be a good fit for those who have previously worked in posts such as Chief of Staff, Deputy Commander, Operations Director, Executive Officer or similar.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement processes embedding strategic management into NIMSC operations.
- Lead the creation and review of business strategies, setting relevant policies and standards.
- Plan and execute comprehensive risk management activities.
- Maintain and oversee risk, issues, and lessons-learned registers.
- Provide expert advice on risk mitigation and reporting.
- Facilitate workgroups to achieve defined goals and improve team performance.
- Coordinate and apply best practices across NIMSC’s people, processes, and technologies.
- Foster collaboration within NIMSC and with external stakeholders.
- Lead strategic initiatives and optimize outsourcing for NIMSC projects and services.
- Manage daily operations, senior management meetings, and cross-departmental coordination.
- Oversee sensitive issues, key events, and the Chief NIMSC’s action priorities.
The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline and at least 5 years of related experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of related experience.
- Proven leadership in managing large multidisciplinary teams and delivering strategic initiatives in international or governmental organizations. Prior experience working with NATO in a relevant capacity is highly desirable.
- Expertise in strategic planning, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational success.
- Strong project management skills, ideally with PRINCE2 or equivalent certifications, and a focus on continuous service improvement.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken is essential.
