Job Description:

3M Benelux is looking for an ‘Automation Engineer’

Working as part of a highly focused and driven team, your focus will be on Process Controls, this in design of new processes and improving or updating current systems.

  • Your main responsibility is to further improve the automated processes of our installations. Error resolving, implementing improvements and developing new software are day to day responsibilities.
  • You ‘ll have a strong bond with Project Engineering, and you’ll give technical assistance to other departments in order to have a continuous improvement of quality, safety, cost, environment impact on our installations.
  • You will take the lead in continuous improvement projects by means of proper project management.

To be effective in this role, you will need to develop the skills to become a high performing engineer and 3M will support you in doing so. You’ll become knowledgeable about our developing technologies, the quality systems that surround our manufacturing processes and learn to work with people at all levels of the organization - from the machine operators to the senior managers. You’ll be trained in Lean Six Sigma methods and tools, and will use these to analyse and improve the processes in your area of responsibility –if there isn’t data to analyse; you will have the autonomy to explore how to generate this vital data.

Qualifications

We are looking for an enthusiastic personwith the following competencies:

  • You have a Master or Bachelor in Electro Mechanical Engineeringwith a good understanding of process automation,
  • Knowledge of various PLC, Scada & DCS systems is desirable, but not a must
  • An analytical mind and a result-oriented approach are good competencies.
  • Knowledge of statistics, safety and environmental techniques is a plus.
  • You are creative, pro-active, flexible and an independent worker with strong communication skills and able to work in a team.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English.
  • Strong collaboration with other 3M departments
