Your role & work environment

[What should the job accomplish]

As a feature Engineer Payments you understand the payments business inside out.

Given your functional knowledge on Payments combined with your IT background, you translate new business requirements into IT systems to create new bank payment products for the bank’s customers. You collaborate, based on your excellent analytic and communication skills, with bank product managers at one hand side and at the other hand side with IT Application designers and developers.

Our Payments IT department (450+ FTE across multiple countries) , organized in squads of max. 6 to 9 people, collaborates daily and intensively to deliver quarterly product increments (end 2 end functional features backed by the increments of the IT payments applications). “Collaborative successes through agile teams”. You will join the chapter of Feature engineers to ensure EPIC refinement followed by delivery of these end 2 end solutions in a quarterly cadence.

You will be surrounded by/collaborate with/supported by proficient knowledge workers.

Your key responsibilities

Responsibility 1

  • Translate business requirements into features and stories by using Business & IT knowledge combined with knowledge of the IT landscape. Stories being the smallest functional unit that a development team can code into an application


Responsibility 2

  • Ensure features delivery (product increments) via quarterly planning, coordination and dependencies management through Scrum of Scrums

  • Make things happen by installing a close collaboration climate. Teamwork is our strength.
  • Keep your business and IT knowledge up to date, and keep track of relevant trends and outlooks

As a Feature Engineer you will need:

  • [Education]

Master degree or equivalent through elaborate job experience

  • [Specialised knowledge]

Sepa payments and/or International payments knowledge (F.e. rulebooks by the EPC, UDFS …)

  • [Skills & Competences]

Problem solving skills to find creative ways of driving progress and removing impediments
Extremely results-oriented, always striving for maximal customer value as early as possible
Continuous improvement mindset
Eager to learn (and ability to coach others as skillset grows)
Very strong communication and presentation skills (telling – selling) across skill and seniority levels
Ability to challenge, influence or convince others through fact-based arguments
