We design and manufacture sensor-based sorting machines and integrated post-harvest solutions for the food industry, using the world’s most advanced grading, sorting, peeling, and analytical technology. We are currently looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer for the Peeling Line. The Peeler solutions we offer are in many ways different from the platforms we use for sorting. The used technical applications and equipment require a much more mechanical handling than pure sorters. So, a passion for mechanical challenges is a must!

Candidate location: Flexible within north of France (e.g. Pas-de-Calais & surroundings) or south-west of Belgium (e.g. Kortrijk, Mouscron, Mons, Tournai or surroundings). Home-based & on-site.

This job opportunity is a mix of practical hands on in the field, customer contact and technical back office support. The Field Service Engineer position is ideal for a self-motivated adventurer, as there will be practical site work, customer support work, travel, both domestic and international. You will schedule and perform on-site installation, service, upgrades and repair of peeling line equipment and support customers for technical advice and spare parts. This job position gives you the opportunity to make part of a strong team, with a lot of challenges. Initial training on our systems will be conducted in the Leuven facility and in the field.

Responsibilities

- Install new or modified equipment at customer facilities to ensure full functionality according to specifications.

- Service and maintain installed equipment and preventive maintenance visits

- Analyze, evaluate, and diagnose equipment problems independently.

- Conduct customer-training sessions on utilization and maintenance of system.

- Prepare and submit applicable field service documentation.

- Technical first line support toward customers

- Perform on-call, standby duty and travel as needed.

- Give ideas about improvement possibilities (quality, efficiency, profitability).

Your profile

  • Degree in a technical field (e.g. Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering) or adequate relevant experience in above tasks
  • Located in north of France or south-west of Belgium
  • Experience as a service engineer in field service and customer support
  • Experience in other heavy machinery industries (mechanically based) is considered a plus.
  • Passion for mechanics
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in electrical systems troubleshooting is considered as a plus.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Stress resistant
  • Not afraid of “dirty work” and big tools
  • Prepared to travel (~50%) by car and by air, with overnight travel required.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to customers in a user-friendly manner
  • Excellent communication skills in English & native (or native-level) French
  • Basic knowledge of Windows, Office and Skype
  • A valid driver’s license

As communication is key, you have excellent communication and facilitation skills with the demonstrated ability to present or handle complex technical information and issues in a user friendly manner. You also have ability to relate to customers, their views and issues, locally and in other countries and cultures, based on your acquired cultural awareness.
